What are your favourite book characters who are sexy / attractive / compelling / subjects of romantic desire, and who don't conform to stereotypical beauty norms? What authors write body diversity really well?

I thought I knew what a reading slump could be like for me, but July has been a more intense slump than I've ever experienced. I cannot focus on reading. I read 6 books in July.
3 audiobook rereads
1 novelette reread
2 new to me romance novels
-so many attempts that lost steam
I also cannot easily access memories of what I read. It doesn't stick with me the way it usually does. It's like I have a completely different brain.
I'm hoping to find my way back to reading this month, but I am not sure how to get there, yet. It's so odd to not be doing it.
I’ve seen some writers wondering if their work matters in this current situation.
I know I need good books and stories even more these days.
So, yes, it matters.
Please keep writing.

This exact same thing happened when Black people started winning Lambda awards. It was really starkly noticeable. This pattern sadly exists outside SFF too
Also it’s funny how as soon as marginalized folks start winning prestigious awards & there’s the inevitable regressive pushback, the solution is... to trash the thing that marginalized folks worked incredibly hard to win?! How is that helping? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!
An update on the programming pitch deadline (Aug 21) for #FIYAHCON2020 and a peek at some of the panel topics we're excited about already:
theconvention.fiyahlitmag.co…
A steamy novel about a goal-oriented bluestocking with a happy unproblematic past, who falls in love with both a cunning valet and a glamorous Italian painter.
I wish to do a thing but I need a bit of help brainstorming: what’s your favorite Black Romantic Comedy? And if you can’t think of a fave just name one.
Oh damn it is our birthday isn't it? Lol.
FIYAH emerged August 2016, born of the "fuck it, we'll do it" spirit behind...well literally everything else we do. Thank you all for being on this ride with us.
Good morning, friends. It's the end of #CoNZealand (for me anyway) & I'm drinking coffee on a rainy morning & reckoning with the experience of it all, & want to share some threads. I hope you'll read them all through.
