Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending and speaking at the official opening of the Royal Docks Corridor – a milestone moment for Newham, London, and everyone who walks, wheels, cycles, or simply enjoys safer, greener streets.
Absolutely brilliant to open the Royal Docks Corridor this morning.
The GLA & Newham teams have transformed this dangerous industrial road into a wonderful new public space - complete with a fab cycle lane, crossings, new lighting, beautiful planting and flood resilience.
What a transformation on the #RoyalDocksCorridor! A 4-lane racetrack for cars becomes a street for everyone—celebration today with project managers, builders, councillors, Mayor @rokhsanafiaz, and @willnorman. Congratulations to all at @NewhamLondon for an amazing achievement! 🎉
🚴 The @BikeBusCamden is rolling on this Autumn term — and it’s more fun than ever!

In the Netherlands, where the Dutch invest in safe cycling infrastructure, the over-65s cycle around a quarter of their journeys, and the over-80s cycle around 10% of their journeys.
Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and cycle lanes don't 'restrict freedom', they expand it.
Date for the diary! I'm pleased to announce that Tollington's Labour Councillors are hosting a Fun Day on Saturday 4th October 1pm - 4pm at The Brickworks. Come along and get free food & drink, bouncy castle, free activities, find out a bit about what is happenning locally
This is fantastic. It's inspiring. We can have this too with the right political will. It's a matter of morality - it's about justice and equity in design approaches. Everyone can be safer. It's entirely possible. @HaringeyLabour@HaringeyGreens@CatherineWest1
Everyone says they care about road safety.
#Helsinki 🇫🇮 shows what that actually looks like.
Protecting children isn’t about words—it’s about design.
This is how you do it.
The rest is noise.

Increasing cycle journeys creates more space for essential car journeys. The @MayorofLondon must urgently build safer, separated infrastructure. Given the option, this is the future for many commuters in cities
🤔 Tube strike forcing you to rethink the commute?
🚴 Don't put yourself through the painfully slow bus or the painfully overpacked train - make the most of the September sun and ride into work!
You never know, you might actually enjoy it... 👀
Londoners’ most popular alternative to the tube.. the bike!
I’ve been properly cycling across London since 2010; never have I seen it so busy - I even shared a lane with @Ed_Miliband 🌹
Build it and they will come 🚴🚴🏿🚴🏽♀️ 🚴🏽♂️
If you want some hope for the future have a look at the proposals to restitch the ancient English town of Newbury. They're probably the best town centre development being proposed in Britain today, quite inspiring: a perfect example of three core concepts....
This photo shows 58 cyclists and just two cars.
MPs looking out of their window today will see a steady flow of people cycling, some for the first time in a while, given confidence to do so with quality infrastructure.
Just over 10 years ago there wasn’t even a cycle lane here.
A @limebike was seen on the pavement yesterday.
In other news, a driver drove over the pavement on Adys Rd, mounting a bell bollard to stop drivers going on the pavement and flipping their car over.
