Research group @MRC_WIMM using systems approaches to understand gene regulation during development and disease in zebrafish, chick, lamprey and human models.
We also heard the brilliant work from @OanaPelea on engineering inducible single guide RNAs responsive to endogenous triggers in vivo 🔥 and our fantastic @_muhammadhanifi on his work developing a CRISPR-based system for muscular dystrophy therapy 🦠
#watchtheseones#synbio
And the retreat goes (even more) international: straight from Lithuania, our visiting PhD student Migle Kalvaityte from Vilnius University on her work on tcf21 role during 🐟🫀 regeneration
#teamfish
In true TSS lab spirit, so far we had such a range of topics being discussed: we kick started with @RuthWilliamsOx on her beautiful work studying fate decisions in the neural plate border. @simoesfili and Michael Weinberger discussed their work on regulation of heart regeneration
We had also the pleasure to learn about @zhi_yuan_hu and Aden Forrow work on lineage tracing; Dan Fountain on the biology of meninges in development and disease; and the South American team Ivan and Andrea on ML methods to dissect enhancers 🐣🫀🐟

And our guest Scottish Andrew - an expert on British cookies and biscuits - talking about his work on adoptive T cell therapeutic approaches, conducted at Prof. Ronjon Chakraverty's lab
3 years since our last retreat in Croatia, the lab is reunited in @KebleConference today for our annual lab retreat!
As our talented postdoc Evgeny Akkuratov put:
keep calm and love #neuralcrest
Good news alert - New Doctor in @UniofOxford town!!!! My best lab buddy @ivanferrreira has successfully defended his thesis today, full of #embryos, #enhancers, #species, #scRNA, #scATAC, beautiful people, tequila shots and so much more! #PhDone@TSS_Lab Well done my friend 🐢🎊
Congratulations Dr Ivan Candido Ferreira @ivanferrreira @TSS_Lab@MRC_WIMM@RDMOxford ! I am so proud of you. Thank you very much to Prof Paola Oliveri @OliveriLab@CloeFor and Prof Peter Holland @OxfordBiology for 5 long hours of examination!
The cranial neural crest migrates into the multi-omics era: exciting review by our @van_cmorr and @saukaspengler highlighting novel approaches to study NC gene regulatory dynamics - and the critical questions they might answer, now out @FrontPhysiolshorturl.at/bBW57 🐟🐣
Did you know FoxD3 is also known as 'Genesis'? Very appropriate name - each time I work on it - whole new beginnings open up! If you are at #SDB2020, tune in tomorrow - Conc. Sess. 1 "Pattern formation across scales" to hear about the genesis of a new tale or should I say - tail?
