Due to popular demand, my list of things that I see Brennan, Matt, and Aabria do that I totally steal for my table
Replying to @CoffeeeCatss
I have a running list of Brennanisms (and Mattisms and Aabrisms) like this that I adapt for my table(s). It’s fascinating to watch them do their thing

Question for a supplement I am working on: Does #dnd5e have a rule about Intelligence for mounts? #a5e says mounts must have an Int of 4 or lower, but I can't find a similar rule for base D&D.

I’ve hit my limit. I need to share something that’s been weighing heavily on me. I've played in a DOZEN TTRPGs lately, and I can say with certainty that every single one was driven by an AI-written narrative. And you know what? It was glaringly obvious. The soul was just… gone. This isn't some "new tech is scary" rant. I've been in this hobby since 1979. My family has been in the business since the early 70s. I own an FLGS. I'm a published author. This hobby is my life. For nearly 30 years, I've poured my heart and soul into the same campaign world. It's a living tapestry woven with my players, filled with history, mistakes, triumphs, and inside jokes that no machine could ever replicate. We built that. Together. What I'm seeing now is the opposite of building. It's soulless generation. I use AI myself—as a sounding board, an editor. It’s a tool, not the artisan. But to see the core of our hobby handed over to an algorithm feels like a profound loss. It's like replacing a home-cooked meal with a nutrient paste. It might fill you up, but it will never nourish you. To all the GMs out there: I'm begging you. Don't let your creativity be outsourced. The heart of this hobby is human connection, shared imagination, the beautiful, messy, unpredictable spark that happens between people. It’s not a string of perfectly bland, algorithmically generated prompts. Your players deserve your story. Not a soulless echo. Let's champion the GMs who pour their passion into their worlds and the players who bring them to life. Our stories are worth more than that. #TTRPG #TTRPGCommunity #DND #GMLife #TabletopGames #HumanCreativity #KeepItHuman #Storytelling

The more I learn about 1800s Romantic paintings, the more I realize all my campaigns exist there. Tempest, Ivan Aivazovsky, 1855
Everyone loves trying to make their D&D High Middle Ages simulation right--until it comes to sailing vessels. Then it's straight to the late 18th c.

In Welsh mythology, Amaethon was the god of agriculture, husbandry, luck and male fertility. Son of the goddess Dôn. He is cited as being responsible for the Cad Goddeu, or "Battle of Trees", between the lord of the otherworld, Arawn, and the Children of Dôn. Arawn sent his army to get his possessions back from Amaethon. Amaethon's brother, Gwydion (Welsh god of magic) animated the trees of the forest to help against Arawn. In the end, Amaethon's tree army defeated Arawn's forces. 🎨 Petar Meseldzija

Today’s reminder to all adventurers! You’re stronger than you know, braver than you believe, and more creative than any dice can determine. Keep building worlds, weaving stories, and rolling with those 20s. Whether you're a paladin or a rogue, you bring magic to every table!

Well, this is pretty damn cool.
We often hear about the 7 Wonders of the World, both ancient and modern. But what about wonders of the Medieval Age? Here are seven — and what happened to them... 🧵

Schwangau (thanks Windows) -- what a great starter for a fantasy #ttrpg. A castle, a village, a monastery in the near distance. Forests and mountains. A perfect bulwark on the edge of civilization.

"...even in the complete absence of light or sound, alligators are able to perceive a single drop of water on the surface... and orient to that." Oh yes, my players are going to love (hate) this. youtube.com/watch?v=cEgpx3LG…

Anyone have a #statblock for a nice man-eating #dnd plant? Prepping for some swampy stuff I know my players are going to hate (love).

Aivazovsky is the non-castle half of my Insta feed and it's wonderful. Also melancholic, those sailors didn't have it easy.
Ivan Aivazovsky’s sea-scapes are utterly entrancing me today…
