Once again this week, I had the opportunity to exchange views with Mr. Shieh, Taiwan’s representative to the European Union in Brussels. Our regular dialogue is of great importance for our parliamentary work and for strengthening the close partnership between Europe and Taiwan.
Taiwan is not only a key partner for Europe in promoting democracy, the rule of law, and stability in the Indo-Pacific, but also an indispensable player in future technologies. In particular, Taiwanese semiconductor investments in Germany are helping to strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty, create high-quality jobs, and make our supply chains more resilient.
Maintaining a close and regular exchange with our Taiwanese partners is therefore essential — economically, technologically, and strategically.
