RESULT: Mark Hill won the race for mayor of Frisco, TX. He beat a candidate who ran a remarkably racist & Islamophobic campaign that his backers said was crucial for the “soul” of the city. boltsmag.org/whats-on-the-ba…

MONTANA. Could be the Dem US Sen nominee is going to quit in favor the Indy candidates backed by many Dem leaders ... or could be a total ruse to get a few days of free media attention
MT Senate Democratic candidate Alani Bankhead has sent out an advisory that she will be “making a very important announcement at the University of Montana,” on Monday. #Mtnews #Mtpol

On the big board of all flights at my airport, six flights were marked as canceled. All @AmericanAir. And yet they keep talking of “weather” (including in their response to this thread earlier)—weather that apparently affects only them. Magic weather.

The fact that the US currently has little regulation constraining how shittily airlines can treat customers if it suits them is a public policy choice.

Illinois is a deeply screwed up place when it comes to wrongful convictions — and the new Chicago prosecutor has taken steps back on that front — but some noteworthy reforms moving.
“You need a place to live. You need food to eat. You need a future for your children,” says a wrongfully convicted man who has lobbied Illinois lawmakers to increase compensation to exonerated people. (w/ @injusticewatch) boltsmag.org/illinois-certif…

happy Election Day to those who celebrate… even on a Saturday
Frisco, a Texas city of roughly 200,000, is voting for mayor tomorrow. Both candidates lean to the right right but one of them is campaigning on starkly anti-immigrant and Islamophobic rhetoric. boltsmag.org/whats-on-the-ba…

Huh, the GOP will not have a candidate in a Florida *state House* district that they currently represent.
Well this is something of note In HD47, a Hispanic-maj seat that flipped from Biden 13 to Trump 3, the Republican incumbent did not qualify for re-election and Republicans recruited no backed This seat will be an automatic Democratic FLIP - as two DEMs filed #flapol

A Illinois bill landed on Gov Pritzker's desk on Monday: For people exonerated & released from prison over a wrongful conviction, it provides for a payout to $50K per wrongful year in prison (& $25K per wrongful year on probation or parole), with no cap. boltsmag.org/illinois-certif…

FWIW, Jay Clayton, Trump's new DNI nominee, was just on CNBC insisting there was election fraud in the LA mayoral race. That's sort of party line stuff at this point. But still, relevant to this post since Trump's openly using it to go after voting

Charlie Cook on last week's Fox News Ohio poll (which had Sherrod Brown up 8): "When reading the numbers that follow, you should know that unreleased, private, high-quality polls conducted for both sides show similar results; this poll is not an outlier" charliecookpolitics.com/p/oh…

It's gotten lost a bit, but the AP has still not called the GOP primary for secretary of state in Nevada. Jim Marchant, who led a network of election denier candidates in 2022 and now is running again, leads the more establishment-y Shirley Folkins-Roberts 33% to 31% for now.
