Europeans experiencing random Americana as they come visit for the World Cup is a lot of fun, and a good way to get Americans to not take for granted what’s awesome about our country. slowboring.com/p/a-german-so…

“The USDA needs $18.8 billion to feed every child in the US school system breakfast and lunch each day. Elon could pay for that 64x and still have money leftover.”
Elon Musk is now a trillionaire. More specifically, his net worth is $1.2 trillion or $1200 billion. That number doesn’t even compute for most of us, so here is some helpful context: The USDA needs $18.8 billion to feed every child in the US school system breakfast and lunch each day. Elon could pay for that 64x and still have money leftover. The World Food Program needs $13 billion to feed the 110 million hungriest people on earth. Elon could pay for that 92x and still have money leftover. The National Alliance to End Homelessness needs $9.6 billion to provide housing for every unhoused person in the United States. Elon could pay for that 125x and still have money leftover. The average American teacher makes $74,495 per year. Elon could pay the annual salary of over 16 million teachers and still have money leftover. The problem is not that we don’t have enough money. The problem is that we have built a world where one person can accumulate more wealth than the GDP of 180 countries while children go hungry, families drown in medical debt, teachers are forced to buy school supplies for their students, and people sleep on the streets. This is a complete moral failure.

¿Burbuja o infraestructura?

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis: China now has 30% of the world's manufacturing capacity and has essentially the ability to destroy industries across the globe, and certainly in Europe. This is a topic that we need to take very, very seriously. We cannot just allow our industrial base to be completely annihilated simply because we're in search of always the cheapest product.

IF accurate, this was a good reason to demand the immediate takedown of Mythos/Fable, until the problems could be plugged...
I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true: — As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable. — Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.) — A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused. — In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.” — In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety. — In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community. — The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority. — Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.

Cornell student who emailed a prospective employers "Not interested in working for a Jew" ... keeps digging his hole deeper. (Background: nypost.com/2026/06/13/us-new…)
Replying to @EinhornGabe
I was stating why I was not interested after you had asked to interview 3 times. I found out you were Jewish after the fact. My experiences with Jews have not been pleasant, both in person and online. This is not to say I havent had positive experiences, but on the aggregate that is not the case. Obviously, the reactions by your community only serves to further prove my point and indicate your post on X was not done in good faith. I am sure that if you indicated you didn't want to work for someone who was white or Christian this would not have blown up to the capacity it has here today nor would you have been intimated as I have been. Additionally, even supposing none of this were to happen your actions here today clearly demonstrate a level of immaturity and possibly insecurity, which I wouldn't expect of a 24 year old self proclaimed entrepreneur. Given that I have been doxed and intimated by your community including having my personal life investigated for no other reason than a single comment I cant imagine any reasonable person not coming to a similar conclusion, per the post above.

Hardline Iranians have been protesting throughout the day against Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf over the emerging U.S.-Iran deal. Demonstrators chanted "Death to Araghchi, the dishonorable compromiser," "Araghchi, have shame, stop giving in," and "Ghalibaf, Araghchi, resign, resign."

BREAKING: Iran directly rejects Trump's new claim of a deal being signed tomorrow, saying the insistence on signing the deal on specifically Sunday is engineered around his own birthday, calling it a "propaganda event" that Trump is trying to turn into a unilateral "symbolic occasion" for himself, along with his UFC White House event, per Fars. The Iranian negotiating team says it "will not permit such a media and ceremonial manoeuvre," explicitly stating that the memorandum of understanding has not been finalized and no signing will happen.
