Friendly reminder that Vendetta’s design had exactly 0 thought put into it and was literally based on what the guy found attractive. Because why bother giving a gladiator scars/any remotely interesting features in a video game where the whole design philosophy was about diversity

Ik heb een aantal jaar in Vietnam gewoond. Omdat ik geen wasmachine had, bracht ik mijn kleren naar een van de vele kleine wasserijtjes – vaak gewoon mensen die thuis een eenvoudig bedrijfje runden.
De volgende dag stonden de zakken klaar. Die van mij vond ik altijd vrij snel: er stond groot “Tây” op. Tây is de informele Vietnamese benaming voor een blanke buitenlander (of ‘westerling’).
Ik vond dat mooi. Natuurlijk was ik de buitenlander. Zelfs als ik er de rest van mijn leven was blijven wonen, zou ik altijd een Tây blijven – nooit een Vietnamees.
En dat was helemaal goed geweest. Ik ben namelijk geen Vietnamees en kan ook geen Vietnamees worden. Het enige wat ik kan zijn – en moet zijn – is een goede Tây.
