This is Sergeant Snuggles. He’s a young Anatolian Shepherd from a family in Tucson. For almost eight months now he’s been locked up at Pima Animal Care Center, facing euthanasia over one bite on their own property. It happened when he was stressed out and a family member startled him from behind. The grandma who got nipped says it was her fault, she’s not pressing anything, and she wants him home with the kids who miss him like crazy. The family has a big fenced property and they’re ready to follow every rule - training, muzzle, whatever it takes. Snuggles is a guardian dog doing what the breed does. He’s not some vicious animal. Videos show he’s sweet with people. But the shelter and courts are pushing to put him down anyway. This hits different when you see the little boys waiting for their dog. If you can, share this or call the folks in charge and ask them to let the family take him back under dangerous dog rules. He was found abandoned and chained to the back porch of a house, standing in water and surrounded by trash after his owners moved away and left him behind. Despite everything he has endured, Dr. Doofenshmirtz has remained incredibly loving, social, and full of joy. He adores people and absolutely loves other dogs. He has even been the shelter’s go to dog tester because he gets along with every dog he meets. He truly is a social butterfly with a heart of gold. Now Dr. Doofenshmirtz is on the urgent list with a deadline of June 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM, and he is running out of time. He desperately needs a foster or adopter to give him the second chance he deserves. Please help save this amazing boy by fostering, adopting, or sharing his story. Lucy is still not home. That poor dog. My heart cannot take it, after all she's been through. She's probably feels so abandoned. The judge needs to STOP the games and FREE HER. Send her back to her family.

Yesterday ended up being a bit deflating, but I remain hopeful that Lucy will be home soon. My attorney actually told me on Thursday that Lucy may have been released as soon as that afternoon, but as Friday afternoon rolled into evening, I started to realize that they weren't going to let her out until Monday at the earliest. It feels like they are just trying to twist the knife one last time. They may be the case, but I'm not completely sure. It could just be that government is doing what government does all the time: move at the glacial speed of bureaucracy. That animal welfare check, however, seemed perfectly timed to send us a message - we may have won this round, but they aren't going to stop. Using social media to expose their machinations to the light is good, but I plan to start taking concrete, legal steps to stop this bullying on Monday. The law in this country should not be a tool to advance only the interests of the well-connected. It's frustrating as we go into this weekend, but I look to Monday for good news. Meanwhile, #SaveLucy is still trending.

Six weeks. SIX FLIPPING WEEKS. Lucy has not heard our voices. She hasn't slept on her rug. She hasn't gone for a ride in the truck. She hasn't been snuggled by her family, played with Lex, or run free in her own field. SIX WEEKS. She's been locked in a tiny cell, sleeping on concrete, likely wondering why we abandoned her. SIX WEEKS. She's eleven years old. She doesn't have endless time ahead of her. She could get sick. Her health could fail. Every day matters. And while everyone moves at a snail's pace, without a care in the world, time keeps slipping away from MY DOG—the dog who was taken because a petty neighbor decided to call the authorities when she slipped out of her collar in our OWN YARD! This wasn't some outrageous act! This wasn't a purposeful violation of anything and didn’t cause incident. This wasn't the terrifying incident the neighbors or government would like people to believe it was. It was a normal, everyday occurrence that happened on our private property! We could have lied. We could have denied it happened. No one had proof otherwise: But that's not who we are. So for six weeks, my Lucy—my eleven-year-old dog who stood watch over our family through deployment after deployment, who kept me company during the lonely nights when I watched the news and wondered if my husband would make it home alive—has sat in prison. This is a sick abuse of the law, and an innocent animal is paying the price. Not for biting someone. Not for attacking someone. Not for leaving and roaming the neighborhood. For being in her own yard. Let that sink in. And because malicious neighbors refused to mind their own business, and because officials with the power to do the right thing have refused to exercise any bit of common sense, she remains there. They make me sick. The abuse of power makes me sick. The character assassination makes me sick. The lies make me sick. The fact that people who have never met us, never spoken to us, and don't know the first thing about our family have spent years trying to destroy our peace makes me sick. Enough is enough!
