Grateful to Times columnist Giles Coren for putting to the sword a local council pipsqueak for trying to put out of business a restaurant in the middle of nowhere where owner Ruth Hanson does all the kitchen prep herself, the washing up, the bookings, the till, payroll and then cooks it. The restaurant is called Hansom in Bedale, North Yorkshire. To give you an idea of its remoteness it’s 7 miles from Northallerton and 31 miles from York. So, on occasions, her husband Mark, who had a job of his own, gives up his evenings to chauffeur some guests to and from their homes. Coren points out when he reviewed the place last year ( he gave it a glowing recommendation) he had to hitchhike from Northallerton station. No Bedale train, no metro, no Uber hanging around at the corner. Enter Chris Doyle, licensing enforcement officer for N Yorkshire council, who has written to Ruth saying in his view Mark was operating a taxi service and that would require a raft of expensive and time consuming licences. Ruth responded that Mark was her husband, he was unpaid and there was no separate charge for the journey. Doyle said he didn’t care as there was deemed to be a commercial benefit and warned without a licence the council may take legal action. Coren has a great last paragraph; “ Yeah, you sue her, you absolute local heroes. “ You teach Ruth and Mark a lesson for being great at their jobs, for treasuring their customers, for trying to create a little joy and make ends meet in a collapsing world.” PS Thought you’d like to see what a Ruth menus looks like. This is called the Sunday Sharing Feast. Starters. Smoked Leek and Pickled Croque Monsieur Whitby Crab Crumpet Pickled cucumber, Garden herbs. Heritage beetroot, whipped goat’s Curd, Wild Garlic emulsion. Main Course Wensleydale chicken, Apricot and sage Wellington. Honey and mustard mash, buttered spring , cider sauce. Dessert Yorkshire rhubarb and ginger trifle. Cost; £55. With publicity thanks to Coren’s column and this tweet I suspect the queue will be out the door and Mark can have his evenings off again.

Never forget that Gordon Brown told all police forces not to investigate the rape gangs. Elon Musk highlighted Gordon Brown at the start of this year, now Brown is back in the news being in contact with Epstein after he was a convicted Paedophile. The dominos are about to fall.
Oh my god!!! Musk has brought Gordon Brown into the spotlight!!🔥🔥🔥 He has just replied to a post with a video on X saying - ‘What!!?? Explain yourself, Gordon Brown’. The post reads….’Ex Police Officer Dion Miller stating that former Prime Minister Gordon Brown sent a letter to all Police Forces re the Grooming gangs. They were told not to get involved’. x.com/elonmusk/status/187613…

The Two Minutes They Won’t Take: What Remembrance Reveals About Muslims in Britain No different to previous years, I attended yesterday's Remembrance service in Oldham. It is not just this year, it is the same every year. The absence, unmistakable. Apart from the Muslim councillors and officials whose roles required attendance, I could not see a single fellow Muslim face in the crowd alongside me. In a town where Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslims constitute a significant portion of the population, this near-total absence of brown faces in the crowds demands explanation. It is not just in Oldham. This pattern extends across Britain. During Remembrance weekend, Muslim communities that readily mobilise for Palestine, Kashmir, or anti-government demonstrations withdraw from perhaps the most important act of civic solidarity this country observes. The capacity for collective action exists. It is simply never exercised when Britain calls for remembrance of its war dead. The explanation lies not in Islam itself, but in how political Islam has reshaped Muslim identity in Britain. A generation has been taught to see themselves as Muslims who happen to live in Britain, not as British citizens who happen to be Muslim. That distinction shapes every political choice, every act of loyalty, every moment when citizenship calls. Through this ideological lens, British civic rituals are not neutral acts of remembrance. Political Islam reinterprets them as endorsements of an oppressive state. British military actions become perpetual aggression against the ummah. British history becomes a record of imperial crimes. The poppy transforms from a symbol of sacrifice into an emblem of complicity. Remembrance itself becomes an act of betrayal against fellow Muslims abroad. This represents a profound severance from historical reality. Over 400,000 Muslim soldiers served the Crown in the First World War alone. Men from the Punjab Regiment, the Frontier Force Regiment, the 5th Gurkha Rifles died at Gallipoli, the Somme, in Burma. The historical thread has been deliberately cut. Their grandfathers fought for Britain. Their grandchildren will not honour them. When communities repeatedly avoid the most basic acts of civic participation while demanding recognition and accommodation, it signals a relationship of extraction rather than contribution. They wish to benefit from British society without acknowledging the sacrifices that created their freedom to dissent. They want the rights that 400,000 Muslim soldiers died to defend. To honour them requires nothing more than two minutes of silence. Political Islam has worked for decades to ensure those two minutes never come. It has cultivated a worldview in which Britishness is incompatible with Muslim loyalty, in which integration is not seen as a civic virtue but as a betrayal of faith. It promotes parallel societies, parallel loyalties, and parallel political narratives. Remembrance, more than any other moment, exposes the depth of that separation. This is the poisonous fruit of allowing political Islam to flourish unchallenged in British mosques, schools and community centres. The movement explicitly rejects integration in favour of parallel societies. It teaches young Muslims their primary loyalty belongs not to the country that houses them, but to a global Islamic community that exists primarily as political abstraction. The absence we see each year is not explained by inconvenience, indifference, or lack of awareness. It is the predictable outcome of an ideological movement that has taught a generation to view British civic rituals not as moments of unity, but as violations of religious loyalty. Until we confront what political Islam has done to Muslim identity in Britain, until we are willing to speak honestly about how this ideology has uprooted the historical connection between Muslims and this country, we will continue pretending that integration is progressing when, in truth, it is being actively undone. The silence at Remembrance is not accidental. It is a statement. The question is whether Britain is willing to listen. Raja Miah MBE _________ They have tried everything to stop us. We are still here. They believed fear would silence us. They were wrong. Every attempt to punish us has only strengthened our resolve. And now, as we look across our towns and see entire sections of the community turning away from the most basic acts of British civic life, it becomes even clearer what we are fighting. Not our neighbours. Not people of faith. But an ideology that has taught thousands to stand apart from the country that has given them safety, opportunity, and freedom. I am Raja Miah. For seven years, I led a small team that exposed how politicians protected the rape gangs Today, the same political forces that covered up those crimes are trying to bulldoze the National Inquiry into a whitewash, the same way they look the other way at every sign of civic fracture in our towns.
