These catcher initiated timing picks are becoming an almost nightly occurrence. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… if you’re not incorporating these into your games, you should be! #catcherslife #catcherscamp #thelifeofacatcher

When you combine strength, mobility and good mechanics you get some amazing throws! Watch the slo-mo of these Joe Mack throws closely. The exchange, the arm path, the arm shape, the scap load, the controlled mitt, the blocking of the front side… the list goes on and on! 🔥💪

One of the arguments we hear all the time about knee down set ups is it makes the catcher slower to get up. That may be true for some younger catchers who are still developing their strength and explosiveness but for those older more (cont.)

experienced and elite catchers the concept is this… Put yourself in the best position to get a strike call while still being able to perform any other responsibilities that arise, like catching low pop ups. Safe to say @carterjensenn is elite! What. A. Catch! 💪

Anyone else REALLY enjoy watching @henrydavis32 throw? One of the things we discuss at every camp is the adjustments we make with our footwork depending on where the batter is standing. Watch the slo-mo clips closely to see the difference between when there (cont.)

is a righty up vs a lefty. You need to either maintain some space away from a righty or create some space away from a lefty by utilizing the correct footwork. Fun. To. Watch! 🔥 Would you like me to help teach your catcher the difference? Message me “camps.”

One of, if not the best time to back pick is on a missed/pulled back bunt. Watch slo-mo closely. Drive up through LT leg, get ball to throwing hand efficiently & get RT foot planted immediately. We discuss picks at every camp. Message me & I’ll show you where I’m going to be.

…that if the catcher has their mitt moving away from the strike zone during the catch, like Bailey does here, it will often times result in a ball call. It’s not always possible due to missed spots but do your best to have mitt moving toward the strike zone, not away from it!

This is a perfect example of “how a catcher receives a pitch can greatly affect what the umpire sees and what they call it.” A lot of people argue that what we do as catchers doesn’t matter and a strike is a strike due to where it crosses the plate. I’m a firm believer (Cont.)

Never let the first ball you catch, block or “throw” be in the game (or even the pre-game bullpen). Figure out a routine that works for you! #catcherswag #thelifeofacatcher #catchers
