Mamadou Sangaré - Decision Making Analysis -One of the few players who have profiled as a 'Composed Threat'. Fourth among CM/DMs in Ligue 1 for decision rating. -Finds teammates in space, creates shots. Direct threat who also dictates the team's tempo. -High execution quality, really good at quick as well as slow actions. -Slowly rising to the top of my list for LFC.

If our plan is to build a well rounded midfield with many traits as per game situation & opponent then I'm totally behind this vision. Think it suits modern game demands & PL UCL cups approach too. Hope this is the plan & once we close Mateus, we get a defensive expert. Hope.
🔺NEW: Manchester United set to beat Arsenal in race for £80m-rated Mateus Fernandes West Ham United midfielder, who is also wanted by the new Real Madrid manager José Mourinho, is increasingly likely to make the move to Old Trafford ✍️ @garyjacob thetimes.com/sport/football/…

🚨Manchester United's data department has crunched the numbers on Mateus Fernandes, and he is seen as a suitable alternative to Elliot Anderson. [@StevenRailston] #MUFC

With Éderson done, this is where my head is at currently for the next 2 midfield signings. Without any deep analysis, just based on the little I've watched recently. Even if there are more/better names, these should be the two profiles targeted for a balanced #MUFC midfield IMO.

@TheDevilsDNA with Ederson in the bag, & Bruno & mainoo the two starting midfielders, which two players would you like brought in to complement that?

On Baleba since many are asking. Wonderful talent but he feels a project still. Brighton doing Brighton things by slapping a high fee. Proba avoid for now unless price drops a lot & can be developing backup. x.com/i/status/2063634670420…

Baleba I think is being converted and developed to a deeper role. He's an odd one for me. Lot of talent but feels somewhere in between either role and might not be able to nail down specific things at a high level IP. Probably let him develop and see what happens.

Both Pranav and Bruno are elite at what they do.
Bruno Fernandes - Decision Making Analysis -Best decision maker in the PL among Winger/AMs. -No one comes close for 'Vision', he is able to pass the ball to his teammates such that they can create time and space for themselves quite easily. -High carrying IQ, which means he is more often than not carrying into space. If he doesn't find space, he recycles. -He is able to generate shots for himself as well and it is not surprising that he is among the best at getting the ball into the box. -Slightly lower for press resistance and his tendency to make ambitious passes means he won't be high for 'Safe Hands' (refers to passes that lead to quick ball loss for the team).

Mamadou Sangaré - Passing Profile and Post-Recovery Analysis -Sangare, just like Lamine Camara, has garnered a lot of attention. -While, in my opinion, he is still a level below Camara, there is lots to like about his profile. -Releases the ball really quickly off his feet, more than 65% of his passes being released within 2s of reception. -But he lacks central progression (or progression into the box). And he occupies positions that should allow him to do that quite often. -A thing that I really like about his profile is his ability right after recovering possession. He is able to progress using his passing, Carries in tight spaces in central areas to evade pressure. -Physically, there is a lot of upside to someone like Sangaré. But he still has some work to do when it comes to his on-ball stuff.

Mamadou Sangaré - Channel Defending -No midfielder across the T5 Leagues made more successful tackles in the channels than Sangare. -Also ranks 9th for ball recoveries inside the channels. -Think in terms of pure game breaking ability, Sangare is slightly better than Camara. Tackling and physicality seem to be better as well.

Actually think it's a very good idea given his skillset. - Elite runner & athlete - Has decent cross & forward pass when the game is ahead & he's not under pressure - Wingers will find him hard to beat given his speed & recovery instincts. We should try this too when he's here.

With the way football has evolved recently (emphasis on pressing & man marking), midfielders who have traits for a box-to-box role (workrate, ball winning, progression without pressure, straight line carrying) are finding joy in FB roles. Eg. Nunes, Laimer, Neves, Guerreiro.

So happy Samu Costa is getting international importance now. Probably should start at the base of Portugal's midfield in games where that have to defend more. I had spotted & written about him in March 2023 when he was in Almeria. Only gotten better since then. Should move up.
This Samu Costa guy for Portugal, where the hell did he come from Is he some late bloomer or summ shi He looks quality

I also have a big suspicion Dorgu is a LW and not a back 4 LB. His traits are better used in attack. LWB made sense in theory. I think it's best to buy a new LB and play Cunha Dorgu LW for majority of this season & then upgrade on one with a high ceiling LW.

Another great series of data viz from Pranav. This time on hold up. Interesting that Mbeumo Cunha don't have that ability. I doubt Bruno or Sesko either. Do feel there is a lack of retention in the final 3rd when we attack. Amad closest to being that progressive secure attacker
🚨Introducing Hold-Up Ratings and Maps (Revamped) -We look at sequences where the player held the ball for >= 6s and analyse how well they did at avoiding tackles, winning fouls, progression and retention. -The cards also include the most similar players to the highlighted player with a similarity score as well. -We can analyse hold-up in different areas, for example, for forwards/wingers it can be the final third, half-spaces, for midfielders it can be the entire middle region (box to box) -Feel free to request these cards for any player in the T5 Leagues along with the zone you want it for. -Likes and RTs appreciated.

Very interesting that Dembele and Conceicao feature in players similar to Amad. I do think he's like current Conce or younger Dembele with potential to be like current Dembele as he improves his final action efficiency.

See the best ones. Yamal, Vini, Madueke, Doku. All the top teams have that one winger archetype who can progress securely & hold on until movement arrives. Saka, Olise also good at it. x.com/i/status/2064606525059…

Lamine Yamal - Hold Up Ability in the Final Third -Among Wingers and AMs, there is no one as good as Yamal at making the most of situations where the ball is held for 5 seconds. -He is the BEST at avoiding tackles, winning fouls and taking-on his defender. Lots of tackles avoided right inside the box. -He knows how to find the right pass, whether it is to progress or to retain possession. -The only thing that he is lacking is direct shots and chance creation form these situations.

Look so nice to watch. High ability core, Messi still got it, pleasing football. Won't be surprised if Argentina go far and entertain while doing so.
Some of Argentina's best work vs Iceland. The movement, rotations and fluidity were brilliant. Can't wait to see them rolling at the World Cup.
