Happy Friday! A new episode of #MindingYourBusinessAfrica is out. I had a great conversation with Christian Ngabo, the 26-year-old founder of the Isokko App, whose goal is to create 10,000 jobs in Rwanda before the age of 35. From early curiosity about tech to building solutions for solving everyday problems while navigating tough regulations, Christian’s journey reminds us that innovation often starts with simply refusing to accept that things have to stay the way they are. "Any idiot can go to school and become a Dr." Post your Ph.D certificate nau, or you're not idiot enough?? Ewu Awusa.
Men who gloss over women solely for their academic achievements amuse me though. It’s good to see a woman applying herself but it’s way more important that she’s a reasonable human being. I’m not saying that going to school and being a reasonable human are mutually exclusive, I’m saying that a woman’s degrees and material worth do not matter to the extent some men gloss over it. Any idiot can go to school, get degrees and become a Dr. Nothing is more important in a person than their personal values.

I searched PhD on your page and nothing came up so I can understand why women celebrating multiple degrees is painful for you. “Anyone can get a degree" — except you 😂

I've been thinking a lot about that "racism aside" statement, and I believe it can only be uttered by someone who has made money their god. Nothing else matters at the altar of cheddar.

The story goes beyond South Africa. Truth Social users also circulated unverified claims involving #Kenya and Isaac Sturgeon, a January 6 protester who had fled to Kenya after the Capitol riot. Some posts claimed he was detained in a Kenyan airport in 2025. CCIJ found no credible public record or news account to support that claim.

#Trump’s MAGA world talks a lot about Africa. But a lot of what is being shared is false, misleading, or completely missing context. A new CCIJ investigation on VEZA looked at how misinformation about African countries and people spreads on Truth Social.

The last time I was in Lagos I paid to enter a beach in Lekki. Not a resort. Not a water park. A beach. Sand. Water. A coastline that existed long before any of us were born. Someone bought it. Fenced it. Put a gate on it. Now you pay to touch the ocean. What kind of government sells its people access to nature? Happy Democracy Day. 🇳🇬

The long-term effects of racism are so strong that we should not "racism aside" anyone.

The American media will milk this aesthetic, but still had the guts to harass African players and officials, including denying them visas. After this World Cup, the American fashion industry will steal this idea (especially the luggages). That’s what white people have always done. Steal. They are never original. Everything about white civilization, including their religions, was stolen from Africa. They would steal and repackage to dangerous and non-human friendly versions and export back to Africa. It’s a shame that they have conditioned some Africans to hate their own cultures and heritages, despite being the richest in the world.

You cannot be serious trying to shutdown genuine grievances with talks of "AID". South Africa hasn't even begun to pay off a multi-generational debt to a continent that spent in excess of $120 billion dismantling Apartheid with Nigeria alone contributing an estimated $61 billion towards your liberation effort. Complaining about donating a fraction of that back to the continent is completely tone-deaf when you have a lifelong debt to "Pan-Africanism". Even the World Cup that's triggering these tantrumsz, without African solidarity & international boycotts, an all-white squad would still be playing for South Africa. There is absolutely no moral high ground for you to stand on.
Just two weeks ago South Africa donated 2.5 million dollars to DRC for their fight against Ebola. Only African country to have done that so far actually. But here we are branded as the prime enemies of Pan Africanism whilst the kings of Pan Africanism haven't even donated a Single cent or sent any form of help. We have our problems yes and challenges of xenophobia but Africa collectively must not act they themselves are models of solidarity in tough times.

I understand going to this World Cup if it’s comped, or for business opportunities, or as part of the reps of your team. But otherwise Africans really have to stop bending over backwards to give their hard-earned money to people who have made it a point that they do not want them around.

Some of you need to turn off the internet for a while. Because your constant time on here has got you adopting values you were not raised with and don't even really believe in. Go offline. Find yourself again.
