The state is openly discussing: • groundwater development • streamlined permitting • desalination • aquifer storage • AI/data center demand • expanding infrastructure projects They are projecting nearly $174 BILLION in future water infrastructure needs. What does that mean for rural communities? It means places with strong aquifers, open land, and private wells are increasingly being looked at for large-scale groundwater production and export projects. Many people still think: “They can’t take our water.” But once contracts, pipelines, permits, and investors get involved, things change quickly.
