If it was an adaptation of FADE by Robert Cormier, I would have been there for it. Renny Harlin's FADE would have kicked ass.
Renny Harlin reveals that he turned down a movie idea from Steven Spielberg:
"He wanted to make a movie based on a book about a boy with an ability to become invisible... I looked at the film as a character-driven story like 'My Life as a Dog,' but Steven wanted to make it more like 'Back to the Future,' an action-adventure comedy. I was so idealistic and passionate, and I told him it was not the movie I wanted to make. In retrospect, you think, 'How stupid can I be?' But I had to believe in my own convictions. It was suicidal, because heās a genius. I still think my version of that movie wouldāve been very special."

I just watched Michael with a packed crowd at the AMC Burbank 16 and it turned into one of the best moviegoing experiences Iāve had in a long time. The audience was fully locked in from start to finish. People getting up dancing and just fully enjoying themselves.
Jaafar Jackson is absolutely sublime in the role, and the film plays like a genuine crowd-pleaser. This thing is going to make a lot of money.

I don't think this Neil Jordan movie has ever gotten a North American dvd, let alone a fancy Blu-ray and it's as great if not better than THE CRYING GAME. I know Criterion's gotta make money...maybe they could have included it as a bonus on their new release?

Yes! Film hipsters all around town will be dumping their old CRYING GAME dvds at local used book stores and I'll scoop up an unwatched copy for 50 cents!

MIRACLE is the most "pure Jordan" film in a lot of ways, a culmination of earlier work like ANGEL and MONA LISA and themes from his novels. ANGEL is another one that's harder to get than CRYING GAME, you'd have to hunt down the Blu-ray from the defunct Twilight Time label.
