Yesterday I found out that my father played bongos in an Estonian band when he was in his teens. I'm not sure what kind of Estonian folk songs require bongos, but I suspect they would be the soundtrack for my whole life.
There are 86 comments and 11 days between me and the end of the structural edit of my next book. Instead of actually dealing with the aforementioned comments, I am writing about them on twitter. This is entirely correct.
I was prescribed anti-inflammatories for my sore finger but I accidentally called them “anti-defammatories” and now I feel comforted by this idea that the reputation of my left pointer finger is being preserved.
My book is out today and I’m disorganised so I had to get up really early to have a bath and stage this photo. With many thanks to my publisher, agent and cat – and any/ all future readers ♥️

My 2022 resolution was to always remember the number of the petrol pump I used when paying. I succeeded.
In 2023, I’ve vowed to pause and savour the feeling of a clean dry towel against my wet face after every shower.
So proud of my friend @EmilieCollyer for being the inaugural recipient of the Five Islands Prize for a first book of poetry with ‘Do You Have Anything Less Domestic?’. I agree with the judges: this is a book that truly holds onto the rope.
