🚨THE VOTES ARE IN🚨 We’ve won our election at the NLRB by a vote of 59-4. After a long organizing fight, our newsroom overwhelmingly voted to form this union. We’re eager to get to the table with Gannett. Let’s go.

Just spent time with a young man who was going to both be the opening and closing for the major story I was slated to write after the eclipse. I admit, the whole episode saddened me, just because his story is so good. We had a wonderful plan lined up for eclipse coverage. (1/5)

Management has continually refused their legal obligation to fair bargaining. So if they won't show up to the table, we won't show up to Prime Day ✊

"I live in the red month-to-month." The Record Staff Writer Nicholas Katzban has won scores of awards for his work, yet he has to sell his own possessions and constantly drain his savings to make ends meet.

This week, hundreds of Gannett journalists wrote to corporate leadership, explaining how the company's dismal pay was hurting them and their newsrooms. Here are some of their stories:
The latest @Gannett earnings report shows the company has more than enough to go around. It’s time to share the wealth, pay reporters fairly, and get serious about rebuilding newsrooms. It’s what local news readers across the country deserve.

Hundreds of Gannett employees nationwide staged a one-day strike on Monday to demand better pay and new company leadership. Gannett, the country’s largest newspaper chain, owns several NJ newspapers, including the Asbury Park Press and The Record. ow.ly/mHme50OGgOe

Our members are among the hundreds nationwide walking out today to stop #GannettGreed. CEO Mike Reed has decimated newsrooms, destroyed local coverage and turns a blind eye to the financial struggles of his staff while pocketing millions himself.

If only @Gannett hadn’t cut the @northjersey Devils reporter and opted not to replace her, maybe there would be some local coverage

Gannett ended 2022 with 11.2K employees in the U.S., down 19% from 13.8K employees reported a year earlier, and totals less than half the combined employees 4 years earlier of the 2 companies (GateHouse Media and Gannett) that merged in 2020. bizjournals.com/boston/news/…

Okay, @northjersey. Though as a subscriber, I think today is also a great day to pay @melanieanzidei, @MegBurrow, @Colleenallreds and the rest of The Record staff more. | From the Editor: Now's a great time to subscribe to .NorthJersey.com northjersey.com/story/news/c…

Producers are the lifeblood of our newsroom and the reason our stories end up in front of so many people
every gannett executive is about 100 times less important to that company than the producers in this guild

Today we were ready to work for as long as it took to reach a fair deal, but management walked away from the table with five hours to go. It’s official: @NYTimesGuild members are walking out for 24 hours on Thursday. We know what we’re worth.

Hey folks! We’re not working today. It’s not that we don’t want to but @gannett forced our hand. We want a fair contract to provide resources to our staff so we can sustain quality local coverage. They want to stall bargaining sessions and delay the process. #gannettwalkout
