🎓 Today we’ve been at Broomfield FC and Wickford Town FC for our final two FA Referees Courses of the season. A huge thank you to @AandHReferees for providing all of our course equipment for each referee that’s attended one of our courses. Thinking about becoming a referee? Get in touch today by emailing Referees@EssexFA.com to hear about our 2026/27 course programme.

The ball is out of play when play has been stopped by the referee. Therefore, a goal cannot be awarded if the #referee whistles before the ball has wholly passed over the goal line. For this reason, when the ball is in (or near) the penalty area, the referee should be very careful when deciding whether to stop play or allow it to continue, as the attacking team may later have an opportunity to score a goal. Once the whistle is blown, play is stopped, so the referee cannot apply advantage, regardless of whether the whistle had any impact on the attacking/defending players.

So you post this and make this statement @ScottishFA but we have silence over physical and verbal attacks on @JamTarts players and officals by @CelticFC why is that? This game was abandoned and should rightly be replayed. Dont bring it into disrepute. scottishfa.co.uk/news/a-scot…
