If you were to look at the tactics used by the @IDF during its attack on our ship, you could very well conclude that the intent of the attack was to sink the ship and ensure there were no survivors. All under the cover of an electronic cloak prevented us from calling for help until Terry Halbardier restored an antenna which allowed us to get a message out to the Sixth Fleet. I’m afraid it was all for naught because the White House recalled rescue aircraft from Sixth Fleet aircraft carriers while we were still under attack and calling for help. That recall allowed the @IDF to conduct its torpedo attack unhampered by the threat of Sixth Fleet intervention. This cost the lives of 25 of our shipmates killed by the torpedo, and it allowed the torpedo boats to slowly circle our ship while firing from very close range at #USSLiberty crewmen trapped topside. Those torpedo boats also deliberately machine-gunned life rafts we had dropped over the side in anticipation of abandoning ship. All this happened/is happening with the tacit approval of virtually every member of Congress during and since the attack. The only sitting member of Congress willing to publicly mention, let alone condemn, those actions of the @IDF during its attack on our ship is the member whose actions you find so despicable. Perhaps you would feel differently if you were among those of us who are victims not only of the attack on the #USSLiberty but of the disgraceful way we have been/are being treated by the US government. Absent a complete and comprehensive official public investigation by an independent and unbiased body, there can be no guarantee that an incident like the one we are victims of won't happen again with the same result.
