thanks!! this came up last night with Sam Senchal, we did a little recorded talk. And I think we figured out why the Jewish & Christian conceptions of hell are different
@evalladen you missed this part, it was after the recording stopped. I think it's a B for sam, but it occurred to me that Jewish people were having a good time handling their reality, and doing the necessary evil needed to survive as humans, and then Jesus showed up and was like "you can get rid of that tech debt you're building up, it doesn't have to be this way" but they rejected the OS upgrade (they would have had to sacrifice a lot, and maybe they weren't sure if they could survive the patch he was trying to do)
Essentially Jesus opened a PR and they were like "no thanks" and then he did on his own and they were like "wait, no, stop" (because, surprise, there is only one codebase we all share). And as a result Judaism had to make decisions about what unfolded next.
And then Islam popped up to ride the wave of success from Christianity (I think he did something very very very clever by declaring himself "the last prophet". I think he recognized Christianity as true and recognized that the arabs were fucking around and not catching him, and CORRECTLY recognized himself as the chosen one who could save the Arabs. Thank you Muhammed, peace be upon you)
