Much of the DNA of The Fifth Element can be traced back to Harry Canyon, one of the segments from the 1981 animated film Heavy Metal. Both stories feature a cynical flying taxi driver navigating a chaotic futuristic metropolis, only to become involved with a mysterious woman carrying something far more important than she appears πŸš• Luc Besson later brought legendary comic artist Moebius onto The Fifth Element as a concept designer. The influence goes beyond the taxi driver: the towering cityscapes, dense air traffic, eccentric characters, and comic-book sci-fi atmosphere all echo the world of Harry Canyon and the work of Moebius πŸŒƒ

The Acton Lane Power Station in West London was used for these interiors of Axis Chemicals in BATMAN (1989). It was also used for the Egg Chamber in ALIEN (1979) and the Atmosphere Processing station the Alien Hive in ALIENS (1986). One location. A legendary cinematic lineage.

The β€œLonely Man” theme from THE INCREDIBLE HULK (1978–1982) was composed by Joe Harnell for the Bill Bixby series. Producers loved the simplicity of the piano piece so much that they kept the arrangement largely untouched.

MAN ON FIRE (2004) Tony Scott utilized an old hand-cranked film camera built in 1910 to make movie magic. No CGI needed. DP Paul Cameron built a "merry-go-round" rig that spun Denzel Washington and the camera 360 degrees to create a hyper-kinetic visual effect.

Fun fact. The TV show β€˜River Monsters’ ended because Jeremy Wade literally caught every large freshwater fish species on Earth, and simply ran out of content for the show.

Michael J. Fox celebrated his 65th birthday on Tuesday β€” a remarkable milestone given that he’s been courageously and very publicly navigating Parkinson’s Disease for the last 35 years. Married to Tracy Pollan for 38 years, the legendary star shared his life philosophy with People magazine: "You take the good, and you seize it." The good includes Tracy, of course, and four children. That such a beloved and high profile actor has been so open about his physical struggles is something that has encouraged, inspired, and emboldened so many others facing a myriad of challenges. Despite the very real hurdles, Fox soldiers on with great enthusiasm and expectation. β€œI see other people’s work, and it makes me think that I might be able to find something that’s for me as an actor and as a writer,” Fox shared. β€œAnd as a parent, husband and friend, I have a lot left tΓ³ do. Here is to a great birthday for Michael J. Fox! May we all count our blessings more than our obstacles

David Bowie as Nikola Tesla in THE PRESTIGE (2006) feels like Nolan discovering a cheat code. The second Bowie appears, the character instantly carries the kind of mystery and gravitas the film needs. Every scene with him has an almost mythical quality.

We're remembering Staff Sgt. Amy C. Tirador, today, a brave soldier from Albany, NY, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. On November 4, 2009, she was killed in action in Iraq at just 29 years old. Amy was a dedicated member of the 209th Military Intelligence Company, earning a Bronze Star for her service. Gone but never forgotten-heroes like Amy remind us of the true cost of freedom.

Brian May wrote β€œWho Wants to Live Forever” after seeing the scene where Connor MacLeod watches his wife grow old while he remains unchanged in HIGHLANDER (1986). That heartbreak became one of Queen’s greatest songs.

Best song that only appears in the movie?
