The Bentall procedure gets its name from the first Professor of Cardiac Surgery in the UK – Dr. Hugh Henry Bentall. Dr. Bentall was a man of many firsts, assisting in Britain's first successful pulmonary embolectomy and first successful surgical correction of esophageal atresia.
