Following methodologies and ID characteristics developed by @Varungoswami@tncvidya@Shermin_deSilva for still photos taken from vehicles, we set out to see whether our systematic placement of VIDEO camera traps could be used effectively to ID elephants. They can! /2
While we ID'd ~107 eles in this paper, we have now ID'd more than 200 - the pop estimate is ~250-300! We also used the cameras to ID eles using DAY & NIGHT footage, not an easy fete for the students in the lab! /3
