Breakthrough season for Carlos Espi and despite the small sample size, there is a lot to like 👇 youtu.be/-3UQrKaJvP4?si=cAHs…

Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Jackson is a real nuisance.

Lee Dixon must be the most depressed man being paid to watch football

Didn’t see tonnes of Japan from an attacking POV yesterday but they did have some nice rotations in wide areas that helped get in behind the Netherlands on occasions. Counter movements helped Japan cause some marking issues. 🇳🇱🇯🇵 #WorldCup

Loved the dynamic between Hincapie and Vite in the first half. As Vite drops into the first line, Hincapie inverts taking up a central position in behind CIV midfield line. Happened a number of times, sometimes with opposite full back dropping in and Pacho being wider.

Going to be lots of goals in games involving Germany this World Cup. Curaçao not great but the fluid attacking rotations and sheer numbers Germany get forward will cause most teams issues.

The flip side is they have a rest defence of 3 1 and not ones I’d necessarily consider amazing at defending large spaces. Maybe they’ll rein it in a little in terms of dropping Nmecha deeper against better opponents.

For me the US and South Korea have been the two teams who I’ve enjoyed the most in the games so far. Both using similar in possession structures. A 3-box/diamond-3 with lots of midfield rotations and pinning in wide areas.

Japan play tonight and I know they’ve used a similar system so really interested to see how they get on. Caused big issues for Czech Republic and Paraguay so let’s see how the Netherlands manage it if Japan do the same.

Trying to do some content on the World Cup when you work full time is impossible. By time you get some free time, most tactical elements have been covered by someone else or irrelevant.

No punches pulled from Clint Dempsey on Jesse Marsch there. 😂

Got round to finishing the South Korea- Czech Republic match and what a good performance from South Korea. Back 5 system but constantly had their wingbacks holding width really high pinning Czechs wingbacks. This combined with lots of central rotations caused hide issues.

If it wasn’t the wingbacks it would be the wingers or someone else. The main thing being that the wide channel was constantly occupied. Left a box/diamond midfield with lots of rotation between the inside forwards and two central midfield players. Kang- In Lee wow, ran the show.

Saw an example of it on the goal, Coufal attention drawn by the wing back, ends up following him to far which then leaves a big gap between him and the RCB who tracking the inside forward. Allows Hwang In-Brom to attack the space.

Morocco are going to be a problem this World Cup. Sit and absorb pressure and hit people on the counter attack. When they do, my god do they attack with speed.

Paraag interview was quite interesting, especially the bit about all the planning last summer and how when Farke eventually starting following instructions things turned around. Hopefully has gone into conversations this summer.

Brendan Aaronson, what to do this summer. Can’t really imo be going into next season with both him and James if the club and Farke are serious about looking up rather than down (their words paraphrased). James recently signed a new long term deal..

Gnonto more than likely to leave and you still don’t see a future at Leeds for Rama whilst Farke is here. Leaves you with Okafor and then one of James/Brendan (if you were to sell one). Need at least two attackers this summer (not including a replacement for Piroe).

So a striker, RW/10 (marquee signing?) and competition for Okafor at the very least.
