🦫🦫 Huge day for the wildlife of the #ThreeBays as a pair of beavers were released @HeliganGardens!
We were thrilled to be invited along to witness this special moment. The last time beavers were in a Three Bay’s river was perhaps 500 years ago.

In bang-average weather we held our fifth annual New Year Plant Hunt today in Mevagissey. 10 intrepid walkers counted 78 species, including Common Whitlowgrass, Betony, Jersey Cudweed, and a Garden Pansy in an arable field.

This #WildlifeWednesday we are shining a light on the #OilBeetle!
☀️ With the warm sunny days we’ve experienced recently (in between the named storms, rain, flooding, hail & snow!) reports of oil beetles are appearing across social media.

Your kindness can kill a bumblebee 💔
📢 Please share! Bumblebee queens are starting to emerge from hibernation. British weather isn’t always ideal and people with the best intentions can cause more harm good. Let’s change that.

Stoat in a winter coat ❄️
Chris Bilkey sent us these lovely photos of a Stoat in partial ermine, taken at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The ermine, or winter coat, isn’t a common occurrence in Cornwall although it has been observed a few times.

Loved taking part in the Mevagissey #NewYearPlantHunt again this year (despite the invigorating Cornish weather). Thanks @danryan_nature and @ThreeBaysWild - here’s hoping we beat our rank from last year!
Very fun #NewYearPlantHunt in Mevagissey with a small crew who braved the weather warnings.
Our record count in 4 years of doing this route (not that we are competitive…).

Over the last week or so, people have been flocking to Poldhu Cove at sunset to watch the murmurations of thousands of starlings. Some locals say they cannot remember them coming to the cove in such numbers before. cornwalllive.com/news/cornwa…
