Would you rather have someone you like vehemently disagree with you or have someone you despise agree with you?

My two boys are 5.5 and 4 yo. They are pretty rough and tumble and will fight. I’m never certain when I should intervene. Should I let them settle things themselves as long as it’s not dangerous? Or stop any fights right away? Do I punish them both every time? Or just accept this is a normal part of boy behavior?

What does “denying science” look like? Always wondered what people like Neil mean by this, because they seem to equate questioning with descent. And that’s fairly anti-science itself.
If I were ever abducted by Aliens, the first thing I’d ask is whether they came from a planet where people also deny science.

The implications here are profound. Is this eugenics? Should we use CRISPR for all genetic diseases? How about intelligence?
JUST IN🚨: Scientists successfully removed the extra chromosome that causes down syndrome using CRISPR in lab.

My eldest is getting old enough to start asking questions in public like… “Why is that ladies hair blue?” “Is that man fat” “What’s wrong with that guy’s face?” So, I guess this is the part of parenting where I have to teach him some tact.

Husband is a high school teacher. He is almost done for the summer, only thing that’s left is the final exam. Yesterday, he came home very angry. Not only did a student cheat, but he also posted the final on a forum. AND when a teacher went to pull him out of a different exam to confront him, he was caught cheating on that test too. Should he be expelled? Yes! Will he be expelled? No. Grrrr.

My oldest is 5.5 yo. He has already run into people of color his age that have been rough to him. I grew up in the 90’s when everything felt less tense. I was raised to judge people on the content of their character. The last few years have rattled me and shaken my core beliefs. I feel icky even thinking some of the thoughts I’ve been having lately. Not sure how to approach the topic with my young children, but above all I was to keep them safe.

How do you entertain 3 kids under 6 (without tv) when they are at peak energy, but you have none due to being 6months pregnant and entering your fat waddling stage? 😭

If you leave towels in the washer overnight by accident, should you rewash? Or just throw them in the dryer? What’s the chances of mold from this?

My mom today: “You know we have an ant problem when you sweep and half the pile crawls away” So, yeah, we have an ant problem. 😭😭

The other week, my MIL and FIL (who are divorced) were drinking and reminiscing at our house. The kids were playing in the play room. I overheard them saying “our kids were never this loud. We would never let them play so loud.” Will I also forget the happy cacophony of my children when I’m old? I hope not.

I love all my kids, but relate to my middle child the most. I think my eldest senses this connection and it hurts him. Not sure what to do about that, just reflecting.

How do you handle hard truths with young children? Are there cases where you’d lie to protect their innocence?

5yo son: “If a bad guy breaks into our house, you should cut his legs off.” Me: “What…?” Hard core little man. Hard core.

We have an outdoor sand box/water table. My boys love to fill it with water and then put rocks and dirt in it. My MIL came out and told me to dump it. I told her “That’s how kids learn” She said “No it’s not” Is she right here?

Last night was rough. My 4yo son was having a difficult time sleeping. He said he was scared and when I asked him why, he sobbed and said: “There are so many things in the world I can’t know” Got to say I wasn’t ready for an existential crisis yet.

This seems like a grim view of autism.
There is no such thing as mild autism. High and low needs is the criteria. And autism does not make anyone not wonderful. Or creative.

Some safety guidelines recommend children stay in a car seat until age 11. It is honestly ridiculous.
Just saw a mom have her child who is as tall as I am (5'6") sit in booster seat... y'all what are we even doing? The safetyism is getting crazy.

My 4yo son is one weird little dude. I love him so much, just wish he wasn’t so picky. On one hand, he can name around 50 countries, all the planets and dwarf plates, and will watch a show about the counties of Texas. On the other hand, he wants exactly 5 crackers and 6 pieces of cheese. And will remind me to take my glasses and the book we just read back downstairs after tucking him in (otherwise he will cry). I love him so much.

I feel like if your 3 year old is 50 pounds, unless there is some medical problem, it’s a form of child abuse.
