Pentagon spokesman @SeanParnellASW adds:
"The Pentagon has sophisticated systems to ensure the safety of the building and its occupants. Those systems have detected an air quality issue necessitating precautionary measures until we determine its significance. The Department is executing standard protection protocols, including a shelter-in-place order for the affected area. Response teams are in place and ready to support building occupants."
ACFD units, including our Hazardous Materials Team, are currently operating at the Pentagon in support of PFPA’s Hazmat Team during a hazardous materials incident.

It was big news when Trump took over the Kennedy Center. But for some Black Washingtonians, it's even bigger news that he's taking over D.C.'s public golf courses – including the Langston Golf Course in Northeast, a historic course for Black golfers. 51st.news/trump-take-over-dc…
🔥🚒 Aging, unreliable fire trucks years-long delays for new ones = dangerous conditions for New Jersey #firefighters and the communities they protect.
“This was the type of storm you never want to hit.” – Matthew Caliente, President of @PFANJ_IAFF.

🚨 Violence against #firefighters & paramedics is on the rise across Canada during medical calls.
The #IAFF is calling on the federal government to enact legislation to protect those who protect us.
🛑 It’s time to act.

Today, during a subcommittee hearing overseeing disaster management, I addressed the manufacturers of fire equipment and trucks. Big manufacturers must answer for why fire departments are waiting too long and paying too much for the trucks they need. Firefighters put their lives on the line for us, it shouldn't be this difficult or expensive to keep them safe.
Why have prices for fire trucks doubled? And why have delivery times for them quadrupled?
Here's the underreported truth as Chairman Hawley sees it: Wall Street has decided to prioritize profit over public safety when it comes to manufacturing America’s fire station fleets.

At 3 pm EST, @IAFFPresident will speak on Capitol Hill about how private equity’s consolidation of apparatus manufacturers has:
- Driven up costs
- Delayed deliveries
- Put communities at risk

.@factsandfire was arrested Friday night while filming Metro police confronting teens accused of fare evasion at a DC station.
Within moments, she was handcuffed, allegedly pepper-sprayed, and charged with fare evasion, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice.
A thread.
The most important thing we bring to a fire isn’t ladders or water — it’s well-trained fire fighters.
But here in Charlottetown, crews are often forced to respond with 3 (and sometimes fewer) fire fighters to emergencies.
In America, we have no Kings, no Queens, no nobles, no dictators, and no emperors. We have no slaves, no serfs and no subjects.
Just us—‘We the People.’
🚨Along with @IAFFofficial, we’re urging @FTC & @JusticeATR to investigate consolidation in the fire truck & emergency vehicle industry
Private equity roll-ups have gutted competition — driving up costs, delaying delivery, and putting fire fighters and communities at risk🧵
It was an honor to join @IAFFofficial to launch the Fire and EMS Apprenticeship Program.
As the first-ever apprenticeship program for firefighters and paramedics, this program ensures our responders have the enhanced skills needed to build a future where everyone remains safe.
