Having spent the entire 2014 Tour de France with Rob listening to a mixture of TMS and Twelfth Man tapes, I can confidently say that viewers are in safe hands. He’s one of the most versatile commentators I know, and once “nearly” dismissed Kumar Dharmasena
Think Rob Hatch is a cracking commentator on cycling. So will be interesting to see how he goes on the Ashes this winter as part of TNT's hybrid model that has Becky Ives, Cook, Swann, Finn in Australia but Hatch, Ally Eykyn, Ebony Rainford-Brent voicing off tube from London.

After over 15 years working with the BBC Cricket team, today’s my last day. Starting a new job as Assistant Editor on the Audio Sport team. Feel very lucky to have been to some amazing places and worked with some wonderful people over the years.

Another good man leaves the BBC. Joe is one of those correspondents who understands the craft of a TV news report - a neglected art form - & is a master of his trade. A sporting wordsmith whose leaving deprives BBC News of wit, verve & humanity, all of which are at a premium.
‘Even the best things come to an end’ Thank you for watching, for listening and for caring.

…a broadcaster of rare versatility, wit & skill, @JoeWilsonwords has covered so many sports for BBC, but for many, it’s his poetic cricket reports that set him apart, & if anyone can find the words to capture such a finale to such a Test series, it’s him (even on his final day)

I think “Settling the Score” is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard on the radio, the most perfect blend of sport, music and words. Charles Dance’ voice is perfect and of course the TMS commentary of 2005, CMJ et al. It’s beautiful
Play Soul Limbo 🎶 Take it away, @BBCPhilharmonic. 👌 We'll be playing 'Settling the Score' on @5livesport at 20:00 - with a live page also on @BBCSport.

This series was, for me, the peak of sport. Has been a privilege working with the sensational @TimPeachBBC and @BBCPhilharmonic in writing the script for this, delivered magisterially by Charles Dance.
🗣 “Trent Bridge was alive – England revved up for the 4th Test…” Relive the 2005 Ashes with TMS and the @BBCPhilharmonic's Settling The Score. Listen at 20:00 on @5livesport, with a follow-along also on @BBCSport. .

For the last six months I’ve been working on a collaboration between @bbctms and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra to mark the 20th anniversary of the 2005 Ashes. It’s out now. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002gt…

If you get the chance, listen on some decent speakers/headphones. You hear a lot more from the @BBCPhilharmonic than you’d get on a phone/airpods etc

Hats off to @bbctms
One of the best pieces of audio I’ve ever heard – epic Ashes 2005 commentary, stunning BBC Philharmonic music and powerful narration by Charles Dance.
A brilliant way to mark 20 years. Get on it and enjoy. 🏏

On this day in 2006, England kicked off their World Cup campaign against Paraguay. And in the BBC’s build-up to the match, Ray Stubbs managed to get a few words with Freddie Flintoff and Steve Harmison…
