Russian shelling destroyed a historic wooden church in eastern Ukraine.
The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in Andriivka of Donetsk Oblast was built in 1795-1797, making it one of the oldest churches in eastern Ukraine.
It was the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), which had strong ties with the Russian Orthodox Church before the full-scale invasion of 2022.
As of February, Russian forces have damaged or destroyed 642 religious buildings across Ukraine, including 596 Christian churches.
