Pressure on Labor and Libs to give IBAC the power to investigate grey corruption, not just criminal offences. Despite the rhetoric, Liberals oppose this change, and Labor will "look at legislative options" next year. Greens want this simple change now. theage.com.au/national/victo…

The 20 richest Australians have more money than 3 million households. Why is that a problem? Because billionaires have more money than ever before, and they’re using it to buy more political influence.

The fuel crisis isn’t over, so why is Labor making Victorians pay for public transport again - especially when Tasmania is keeping it free and Queenslanders only pay 50 cents?! theage.com.au/national/victo…

Labor’s doing nothing to fix corruption, they’re just saying whatever they need to say to make a political headache go away. We don’t need a review of a review, we need to fix the corruption in Victoria that’s seen billions go lost & unchecked on Labor’s infrastructure projects.
BREAKING: In the past hour, the premier has announced new powers for Victoria’s anti-corruption watchdog. Jacinta Allan says IBAC will have retrospective ability to “follow the money”.

Today the Premier announced greater powers for IBAC, Victoria’s anti-corruption body. So she should, given she told Victorians she’d sent corruption allegations to IBAC, without mentioning that IBAC told her they had no power to investigate. But there's a problem… 1/6

This year the Lib-Nat coalition and the government voted AGAINST an amendment to give IBAC the most important power it wants: to remove the requirement that it only investigate matters which are an offence. This is the key power, to be able to look into grey corruption. 5/6

So IF Labor finally chooses to give IBAC that power, so it can properly expose corruption, will the Liberals and Nationals let them, in what might well be a conservative-controlled upper house next year? It would be simpler to legislate it now in 2026. 6/6

Victorians are right to ask why anyone needs dozens, or even hundreds of firearms, and why Labor is letting them. This was Labor’s chance to show leadership on gun reform and community safety, but they blinked. theage.com.au/national/victo…

For too long the old political parties have let ultra rich corporations rip us off. The big banks, fossil fuel giants and gambling companies raked in over 50 BILLION dollars in pure profit last year! Meanwhile your bills go up, and food banks are forced to turn people away.

Victoria is: 1. opening new gas drilling 2. attracting new data centres 3. behind schedule on offshore wind farms 4. behind schedule on high voltage transmission lines And the Premier didn't seem worried about data centre power demand when questioned at PAEC. What to do? 1/2

Data centres must pay for 100% renewable energy and then some. Just as we require property developers to contribute to social housing, we must make data centres pay for extra renewables, otherwise they will not hasten the transition to renewables. greens.org.au/vic/news/media…

Labor needs to respond immediately to the reports CSIRO will tomorrow sack a THIRD of the team working on Australia’s national climate model. Australia’s climate science capability is globally significant & locally irreplaceable. A shameful way to treat our scientists.

Israel is grossly breaching international law and kidnaps 11 Australians. The Labor Government instead of taking actions against Israel, blame the people trying to break Israel’s illegal blockade. That’s Labor and they won’t change.

Replying to @SenatorWong
@SenatorWong and team must work to secure the urgent release of Australians seized by the IDF yesterday off Cyprus. They were sailing to Gaza with food, medical supplies and other aid, when illegally captured by Israeli forces off Cyprus. Australia should condemn this action.

Because of Labor’s stuff-up, we have a situation in Victoria where unlimited dark money from billionaires and corporations can flow to political parties to influence November's election. What is holding Labor back from bringing in new laws and stopping the flow of dark money?!
