“No more money for Defence”- but plenty for benefits!
Jun 14
'Why have we got money for increased benefits and not defence?' @CarverEmily challenges Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy MP on Britain's welfare budget, as the government faces criticism for its failure to fund defence.

Russian tanker boarding: could have been doing this months ago. It seems to have taken a by-election and Defence resignations to bring it about?
This morning, UK forces boarded a Russian tanker in the English Channel that was secretly helping to bankroll Putin's war in Ukraine. The first operation of its kind led by British forces, and a clear message: there is nowhere to hide.

Makerfield by-election: like Leave in the EU referendum, don’t write Reform off if they’re polling close behind Labour. Voter enthusiasm, and who actually turns out, matters hugely. x.com/poll_checker/status/20…

Musk deserves every penny he’s got.
The first trillionaire in human history - Elon Musk - Born in South Africa - Bullied relentlessly as a kid - Immigrated to North America - Arrived with a backpack and a dream - Built Zip2 with his brother - Sold it 4 years later for $300 million - Co-founded PayPal with the profits - Revolutionised digital payments - Sold PayPal to eBay for $1.5 billion - Bet everything on Tesla and SpaceX - Got mocked for electric cars - Got laughed at for reusable rockets - Nearly went bankrupt in 2008 - Kept building anyway - Turned Tesla into the world’s most valuable automaker - Made EVs mainstream and transformed the automotive industry - Made reusable rockets a reality - Reduced the cost of reaching space by 95% - Sparked the modern commercial space race - Built Starlink and connected millions around the world to high-speed internet - Turned SpaceX into the most valuable private company in history - Bought Twitter for $44 billion - The world said he overpaid - He was called reckless, stupid & crazy - Advertisers fled, media declared it dead - Critics called it the worst acquisition in tech history - Renamed it 𝕏 - Rebuilt the platform anyway - Turned it into one of the most influential platforms on Earth - Launched xAI and accelerated the global AI race - Sent astronauts to space - Is trying to get humans to mars - Created millions of jobs - Generated hundreds of billions in value - Inspired an entire generation of builders Before: - Failed repeatedly - Worked insane hours - Slept in factories and offices - Got bullied, laughed at and mocked - Constantly told “it’s impossible” - Kept building anyway - Made it possible Today: - Richest person on Earth - First trillionaire in human history - Largest IPO in history $1.77 trillion Most people quit when the world laughs at them. Elon Musk built the future instead. Love him or hate him… Nobody has changed more industries in a single lifetime. Payments. Cars. Energy. Space. Social Media. Communications. AI. History won’t remember the people who said it couldn’t be done. It will remember the people who did it anyway. Congratulations Elon. The first trillionaire. 🚀

Good to see Al Carns, Defence Minister, quite rightly mentioning the persecution of N Ireland veterans in his resignation letter.
We owe those who serve the UK the kit to do the job and the loyalty to stand by them when it's done. We are failing on both. I’ve spent my whole time in government making that case. Number 10 will not listen, so I am resigning as Minister for the Armed Forces. Letter to the PM below.🫡🫡🫡⬇️⬇️

Reform only “split the vote” in 2024 after 14 years of the Tories, and Farage standing down 350 candidates in 2019. (I was one of them).
Reform complaining bitterly that Restore are splitting their vote is peak politics 2026 🙄

Healeys’ principled resignation from Defence: a rare tribute these days across the aisle, from Ben Wallace. Many on the left are at best unsympathetic to Defence, at worst hostile. Healey was trying to do the right thing.
John Healey shadowed me for over 4 years. While i didn’t agree with everything he did i know he tried his best and had the interests of the Armed Forces at his heart. i know he loved the job and it will have not been easy to resign. His loyalty to his Party and PM was not reciprocated by them when it mattered and i think he was left with no choice. i wish him the very best. His resignation was one of principle.

‘Two-tier’ Britain: increased public polling support, and now a plurality for this.
The 'two-tier policing' narrative is starting to stick. The UK public is *twice* as likely as 2 years ago to think white people are treated less favourably than minorities by police. Snapshots compare opinion after Southport & Nowak. Data via @LukeTryl from @Moreincommon_

Post-Brexit, we have control of our VAT policy and income. Yes, raise the threshold plus we should also take VAT off domestic fuel bills.
FARAGE announces Reform would increase the VAT registration threshold from £90,000 to £150,000.

Gerry Adams is against violence! 😂
Last nights incident in Belfast is no excuse for tonights rascist attacks. Rascists are exploiting mostly young people without thought for the consequences. People deserve better. Say no to rascism.

Genuine question: how did the Sudanese migrant, accused of Belfast attack, get to travel from Paris to Dublin, when Ireland is not in the Schengen area? Travellers are supposed to show at least a national ID card, if not a passport.
🚨 BREAKING: Police have shared more details about how they believe the Belfast attempted beheading suspect entered the UK - He travelled from Sudan to Paris and later flew from Paris to Dublin on an unknown date - He then travelled by bus from Dublin to Belfast on 10 February 2023 and claimed asylum on this day - He was then granted leave to remain in the UK on 28 September 2023

A word for Israel 🇮🇱 from Christian leader Peter Tsukahira. Let us hope & pray 🙏 Israel does emerge as strongest nation in the region, and will have good relationships with some Arab neighbours. Iran and its terrorist proxies are a threat to all.

How did we get to "anti-racism" becoming racist, and people being treated unequally in the name of "equality". These scams are being called out, even if at times originally well-meaning. Need to speak freely & truthfully, not be intimidated by threat of being called "racist".

Full info needed on this guy. Call me old-fashioned, but I rather miss the old days when people didn’t get their head sawn-off in the street by a nutter.
🚨 NEW: The suspect in the Belfast attempted beheading was granted a 5-year visa by the Government according to DUP leader Gavin Robinson

Makerfield: I hope Reform win, but even a Burnham win & in No 10 could turn to Reforms advantage medium-term. A short ‘Burnham bounce’ will be followed by a slump, as reality kicks in.
"If he becomes Prime Minister this government will go on hiking taxes, increasing welfare and digging us deeper into trouble." Nigel Farage tells James Heale why he believes Andy Burnham would be worse for Britain than Keir Starmer. @JAHeale @Nigel_Farage

Badenoch’s getting there, but she won’t be PM. A positive and thoughtful speech, but after 14 years are people listening?

I’d have no problem with a black Bond. Just don’t give us a ‘meterosexual, soy-boy, hair in a bun, decaf, globalist, not allowed to kill anyone’ Bond-lite.
🚨NEW: British actor Sir Idris Elba has urged that James Bond should not become "woke," warning that audiences would not accept a Black actor playing 007
