I visited Manchester Prison recently and was really concerned by what I saw - a clear example of the problems we inherited. I have been in regular contact with Charlie Taylor (Chief Inspector @HMIPrisonsnews) to discuss his findings, especially on drones. I will work with him and others to grip these issues.

Getting more prison leavers into jobs cuts crime and makes our streets safer.

I’m proud to be handing over as Chair of the Employment Advisory Board network to Rosie Brown. When I started 4 years ago to help prison leavers find work, only 14% had a job after six months of release. We are now at over 30%, and 92 prisons have an EAB in place!
