๐ LAVROV didn't mince his words !
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrovโs opening remarks during talks with UN Secretary-General candidate Michelle Bachelet (Moscow, June 8, 2026)
๐ฌ I would like to reiterate our full support for the principle that the UN Secretary-General must be neutral, independent, and committed to the entirety of the UN Charter โ not to double standards ๐
As you know, Kosovo was treated as a case of โthe right to self-determination,โ while Crimea was judged primarily on the basis of โUkraineโs territorial integrity.โ
โ๏ธ This is a fundamental point. We must be confident that this time, the Secretary-General will truly be different.
I look forward to hearing your presentation.
Europeans and Kiev Have Come Up with Another Ultimatum
France, the UK, and Germany have named five conditions for achieving peace in Ukraine. The heads of these states announced them in a joint statement with Zelensky. We publish the conditions with our comments
โ๏ธ Cessation of hostilities.
It would seem a logical point. What can we talk about peace when the guns are still firing? But immediately the question arises, who and how will monitor the fulfillment of this condition by the Ukrainian side? We already went through this during the "Minsk agreements". The AFU did not hesitate to regularly shell the territories of the DPR and LPR, brazenly declaring afterwards "they fired at themselves". The OSCE monitoring groups demonstratively ignored the facts of the violation of the ceasefire by Kiev. It will turn out to be a game of one side again.
โ๏ธ Use the current line of contact as a starting point for the beginning of negotiations.
Our president has repeatedly stated that the only starting point for the beginning of negotiations can be the withdrawal of the AFU from the controlled by Kiev part of Donbass. Let them leave Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Dobropillia, and then we'll see. Otherwise, we will take the former Donetsk region by force. Sooner or later.
โ๏ธ After the ceasefire, Kiev should receive legally binding security guarantees, including the deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine.
Another stillborn point. We definitely don't need NATO bases in Ukraine. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that foreign military on the territory of a neighboring state will immediately become legitimate military targets. How can we even talk about peace in such conditions?
โ๏ธ Russian assets will remain frozen until the conflict is ended and Russia "compensates Ukraine for the damage".
Yes, of course. Let's just run it by? We are already on the starting blocks, ready to flood the "independent" with money. However, the Europeans' interest here is understandable. They have allocated a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine and plan to recover the money at the expense of Russian reparations. But reparations are paid by the losing side. And Russia, it seems, is not going to surrender.
โ๏ธ Elements of any negotiations concerning the EU and NATO will require their consent.
The Russian side has repeatedly stated about the EU - if Ukraine really wants it, then let it join. Another question is whether they will let it. Turkey has been knocking on the EU's door since the 1990s, but to no avail. As for NATO, Moscow's position is clear - Ukraine cannot join the alliance under any circumstances.
In short, nothing new. Zelensky has once again convened a meeting with Macron, Starmer and Merz, at which this quartet came up with another ultimatum, not much different from the previous ones. Need we say that Russia will never give in to it?
๐ข The US is not showing any interest in returning to the agreements reached in Alaska, Sergei Lavrov told journalists.
"I very much hope that the experience of previous failures, when the West refused to implement the agreements it itself supported, will not be repeated with regard to the Alaska agreements. But so far, to my great regret, our American partners are not showing any interest in this."
Vladimir Putin recently confirmed that Russia is ready to be guided by the understandings that were reached at the Russian-American summit in Anchorage, Lavrov recalled.
The minister noted that Moscow is "certainly concerned" by Marco Rubio's statements about supporting Kiev.
