I'm totally jazzed to announce that effective July 26, I'll be joining Public Health @GovCanHealth as Chief Data Officer and director general of Data Management, Analysis and Innovation. Like many of you, I've been watching the public health and data space for the past few years.

I know this sounds crazy, but I'm beginning to suspect gigantic multinational for-profit corporations are not the best venue for civic discourse

Add to the fact that a) we’ve trained the AI on peoples art without attribution or compensation and b) that future iterations will also be trained on the morass of AI generated art, the future of art will be a derivative swamp void of meaning. That has trouble with fingers…

Look, if everyone is worried about students cheating on essays for AI, instructors can just cheat right back. I asked OpenAI to give me an essay question & make a rubric for grading. I had GPT-3 actually write the essay. I then had the OpenAI grade the essay & give comments. ✅

Really interesting read on how infrastructure impacts experience. My 2c is that as I (slowly) connect with folks on #Mastodon, my experience keeps getting better.

Love seeing this thoughtful analysis of how #network connections seem to work on #Mastodon. It’s hard to figure out all the social and practical implications of the #Fediverse. Thanks!

We need more agitation in government. Don't let things around you get too comfortable. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. And you're probably not the only one who feels it. Speak up. Ask why. Push for better. Question authority. Build alliances for change.
