FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 53 YEARS, THE KNICKS ARE NBA CHAMPIONS 🏆
New York defeats San Antonio 4-1 in the NBA Finals, capturing their third championship in franchise history!
Over the past several weeks, Secret Service police officers, special agents, and support teams screened and secured materials needed to build the #UFC arena on the South Grounds of the White House. From the first wrench and hammer to the finished arena, they made it happen.
Each of the first four games of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs has been within four points in the final minute of regulation.
The last Finals series to begin with four such games was in 1973, when the Knicks faced the Lakers.
A detail that struck me when reporting this story:
Each Teen Spring Jam event earlier this month cost DPR an estimated average of $148k (and as much $186.5k). That's not including the traffic control, janitorial staff or MPD officers at the events.
If the city is investing that much $$, why do people still think there's nothing to do? A DPR Deputy Director told me that people "just need to get involved in their local rec centers and not read headlines or watch social media clips..."
I'm back!
There's been a lot of discourse about D.C. youth, so for my first story @CityCast_DC I decided to talk TO the teens, not just ABOUT them.
I spoke with 10 teens about youth curfew, whether there's enough for them to do, etc. Read here:

Scoop: Overnight, the plaque honoring police officers who defended the Capitol on Jan 6 was finally installed, following years of delay.
I know because I was there, watching at 4 a.m. as two employees working a nightshift bolted it to the granite wall.
