Multiple tornadoes battered communities outside Chicago on Thursday, leveling homes and ripping down trees and power poles, while storms grounded flights for some and knocked out power for hundreds of thousands in the Midwest and Northeast.

From April 23th-30th, an 8 day period, we recorded 1344 SEVERE WX reports. This was our busiest period of severe storms thus far in 2026. That number has been surpased with 1746* severe reports from Jun 6th -11th, only a 6 day period. Reports over the last week are still being tallied and will likely go up.
