Hello twitter folk! Despite being mainly away from here and now in the other place (the azure firmament). There is a new twitter Highrook account you might want to follow here - for game info, videos ... and pictures of Tubbs
While untold horrors and cosmic forces await you at Highrook Manor, not all of its denizens would see the investigators come to harm. Some might just assist you...

i'm giving a talk at this year's roguelike celebration. for those not familiar, it's a really wonderful (free and fully streamed) conference on roguelikes, game making, procedural generation, and the philosophy of game design. my talk will be on landscapes.

You are fast. You are powerful. You are throwing a bear trap at a man's head like a damn baseball. And you are stronger than your enemies could ever imagine. I Am Your Beast--one of the most wishlisted games on Steam--is OUT NOW for only 19.99. GEDDIT store.steampowered.com/app/1…

People saying nice things about Highrook! “It looks like Cluedo but plays like... well, plays like nothing we'd ever seen before! Hugely ambitious, mysterious and enigmatic.” Develop “A big standout, excellent theme, art, mood and gameplay.” Yogscast

Back from a short family break. Accidentally stumbled into this exhibition in Leeds henry-moore.org/whats-on/han… one of the best shows I've seen for ages, amazing bait and switch. Also one of those shows where you do actually need to see it IRL.

Again I would be looking hard at publishers right now too, because valves % hasnt changed, but publishers has. And many pubishers are now offering no-dev-funding deals that still expect 50% revshare.

If a dev puts their own money into developing the game and signs a 50% revshare deal with a publisher, and the publisher also recoups their services costs(marketing qa loc etc) - which is often the case ,then the dev is basically taking ALL the risk for 50% after the pub recoups

Steam is a great service and I do think they are trying to help with visibility and scale, but devs are struggling in all areas to fund/stay afloat so they are inevitably looking to valve to see if anything could change to help.
