Me: god we really need to solve the issue of Chinese over capacity in the ethylene business. Monkey's paw curls menacingly:
Latest plastics news from my wire: Mainland China: Formosa Plastics: Multiple PVC and engineering plastic lines shut. Overall Chinese ethylene output estimated down 12–18% regionally.

You can't improve perfection.
The manul has existed unchanged by evolution for, at minimum, 4.8 million years. They are the oldest species of true cats. Animals are treasures.

It's been five years since SOPHIE passed away. Five maybe an arbitrary number to mourn just about anybody but if she were alive today we would have had more of her work. We would have gotten to see her evolve and probably go from just an influence to mainstream success.

I get that people love denigrating skin care because the the commercial conversation is directed to women and isn't fully rational but why this level of ignorance? There's a lot of ingredients that can do impressive things and if anything the R&D in the field is quite interesting

Insane story. The CIA once hauled a plutonium-powered “portable nuclear device” up a Himalayan peak to spy on China… then a blizzard hit and they left it behind. It’s likely still buried in a glacier feeding the Ganges — a river system that supports ~600 million people.

Thats horrible, I didn't know she was fighting cancer. When I was 12 it was near impossible to get a hold of her books at the library because the waitlists were impossibly long. Rest in peace :(

If I ever saw I'd cry and cry and cry and wouldn't know what to do with myself. The eye of the storm is so peaceful. I'm speechless.

Flight is the closest we can get to God while on this earth.
Flight is truly miraculous. There’s a certain type of person who essentially seems to believe that the purpose of modernity is the aircraft. I don’t necessarily agree, but I get it.

When you're up there it's impossible to not be struck by God's handiwork. Discovering flight is such a powerful feat of human moxie that it reconfirms your faith.
