The day it was proposed that parking spots would be removed a new cycling station would be built in the parking lot of city hall, below Nathan Philips Square, there was a brouhaha in the chamber about lost parking revenue. Now, it's an award winning design and a point of pride.

Toronto's annual cycling budget: $16 million Budget to repair a piece of the Gardiner Expressway: $3 ~billion~ But sure, tell me again about how "the bicycult enjoys whopping disproportionate flex as a lobby group."
Cycling zealots always want more. Their demands are basically for a cycling Shangri-La superimposed on the Toronto grid, but enough is enough, writes Rosie DiManno. torstar.co/CdMj50w9dmn

Hey @NACTO #NACTO19. Before you fawn over Toronto's leadership, we have seen MANY pedestrians preventably killed in recent weeks. This woman, killed yesterday, might have been someone's mom. cp24.com/news/woman-struck-a… This one, Friday, someone's grandpa? toronto.citynews.ca/video/20…

Thank you, @JohnTory, for the warm welcome to the North. From prioritizing North America's most-traveled transit street, to reinvigatoring lifesaving speed cameras, your leadership shines in the movement for safe, sustainable, people-first cities. #NACTO19

Also this! Which is an example of a bike lane that’s not even by the road and provides great convenience for cyclists!

This is why we need protected bike lanes - not paint. Paint does not prevent collisions. (Thread) #BikeTO
I came upon this scene yesterday, a tragically perfect illustration of why Vision Zero is failing in Toronto (and of the fact that unprotected bike lanes are horrible and dangerous). 1/x

I began riding the TTC alone daily in grade 4. This was the early ‘80s. One big difference vs today? Car front ends. When I was in grade 4, the biggest family vehicles - station wagons - had low hoods. Today, my kids (7 & 10) are barely visible over the hoods of many cars.
Parents with kids who ride the TTC, do you worry more about their safety on the TTC, or do you worry more about their safety crossing the road to the stop or station?

The Danforth has the most people on bikes for a street that has no protected bike lane. Why has it taken so long to get a bike lane on Danforth ? @PaulaFletcherTO and @BradMBradford, Let's get this done ! How many more people need to be injured or killed ? #biketo #walkto
I too have a family member who was doored on the #Danforth recently. Ended up in hospital. Driver was charged. But it's a city planning #VisionZero problem as much as a careless driver problem. #ToPoli #BikeTO @JohnTory

This has perplexed me for yrs. @PaulaFletcherTO can you please answer why there's a 40 km lmt in front of elementary school? Cars gun it through the so-called safety zone to catch the green light at Danforth. Another dangerous intersection for kids=Pape and Riverdale. Must change

Speaking with the Crossing Gaurd at @tdsb’s Frankland Community School on Logan Av south of Danforth yesterday. She gave up on writing to the trustee & local rep to change the speed limit to 30 km/h. Should I advise her to write to @TOPublicHealth & @TO_Transport’s Barbara Gray?

Another woman murdered by a driver w car in #ZeroVision city. Media should publish photos of all killed, with notes on family life, as done with terrorist. Humanize this crisis. Jaywalking? NO one should be expected to walk a kilometer to cross a 30 mt street! Hit & run = murder!

Another pedestrian was killed in Scarborough last night. Another hit-and-run. Police say the 35-year-old woman was killed crossing mid-block between Abbotsfield Gate and Palmdale Dr. @ 10:23 pm. What does mid-block mean on that stretch of Sheppard? thestar.com/news/gta/2019/08…

Greenwood Outdoor Pool and Monarch Park Outdoor Pool both open Sunday, September 1 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm for the dogs!
This Sunday, dogs will be allowed to swim and play in 10 Toronto pools. It's ridiculously fun, and an epic way to end the summer. Here's a silly video from last year. If it makes you smile, that's the same joy dog parks bring :) See you there! Details: dailyhive.com/toronto/dog-sw…

Even infrastructure designed to protect cyclists *actually* protects cars. TO's pathological car-centricity cannot be expressed more succinctly/revoltingly than this.
