⚽️ It’s almost game time, Toronto! This month, the world’s biggest soccer tournament arrives with six matches right here in our city.
Behind the scenes, it’s been months and years in the making, with extensive planning and coordination across our organization to ensure we’re match-ready.
To support reliable power, we’ve reviewed, maintained and tested all equipment supplying Exhibition Place, where the stadium is located. We’ve also partnered with Hydro One to advance maintenance on shared equipment and replace aging feeder cables, which are the main lines delivering power to the area.
And on match days? We'll also have crews on site so we can respond quickly if unexpected issues arise.

Outage update: We’re continuing to respond to scattered outages throughout the city due to yesterday’s high winds. We know it's not easy being without power and thank everyone for their continued patience as our crews work to safely restore power to all affected customers after yesterday’s challenging weather conditions.
Since yesterday, we’ve responded to over 145 power events, largely due to downed powerlines and tree contact with wires. The majority of these outages have already been assessed and restored, with crews continuing to work through the remaining outages. We’re also responding to a number of police, fire and ambulance-related calls, which are being prioritized.
Restoring power in these situations can be complex and must be done safely, especially when severe weather is still active. Crews first assess the damage and secure the area, including isolating live wires, before removing fallen trees or debris. They then repair or replace damaged equipment like poles, transformers and powerlines, and test the system to ensure it’s safe before restoring power.
We're reminding customers to be careful around downed powerlines. If you see one, stay back at least 10 metres (about the length of a school bus) and report it immediately to us at 416-542-8000 (press 1).
We know being without power is frustrating and our crews are working as safely and quickly as possible to restore the remaining customers.
