General Naravane is a remarkably decent, thoughtful, and gracious person. As a former military chief, he understands better than most the futility of war, the cold calculations that drive it, and the dangers of relying excessively on force to manage complex challenges.
Ex-Army Chief Gen. Naravane on why he doesn't watch Bollywood war movies "These movies don't show you the truth. War is a bloody game. They romanticise things which gives people the wrong idea that war is a normal thing..But declaring war should be our last resort"

He has consistently been a strong advocate of dialogue and political outreach as the most effective means to resolving complex issues. Coming from a soldier of his stature such views carry both credibility and wisdom.

Couldn’t agree more with Professor Saheb. A timely perspective! South Asia possesses immense potential in resource development, regional trade, economic integration and the strengthening of social capital.

Though born to Punjabi parents, Billy, as Birinder Malhans was universally known, was a thorough Himachali. Billy was a fiercely individualistic and creative person. He tried to fit into the then ‘suitable’ career options — tea gardening in Assam, farming in UP, cultivating acrid land near the Nepal border, an apple orchard in Himachal. ✍️Shailaja Khanna tribuneindia.com/news/himach…

Ms. Mehbooba Mufti’s visit to AIIMS Awantipora has, surprisingly, become a matter of controversy. But the criticism is misplaced, devoid of perspective. And misses the larger public interest at stake.

Calling it a “constitutional crisis” is exaggeration. Entirely unwarranted. What is being witnessed is the exercise of constitutional and democratic rights to demand accountability, transparency and answers from those responsible.

If anything, greater public and political scrutiny of such projects should be welcomed, not discouraged. AIIMS Awantipora belongs to the people and every effort aimed at ensuring its timely completion and proper functioning deserves support.
