There are two types of time:
1) Kronos

A lot of people farming Base airdrop might be farming it with the wrong playbook.
I was just thinking about how L2 airdrops have changed over time, and it’s actually funny.
Optimism came early and rewarded a broad set of users.
If you used the chain early, used it more than once, donated on Gitcoin, voted in DAOs, or were active on Ethereum when gas was terrible, you had a decent chance.
Then Arbitrum came and people thought they had figured out the L2 airdrop formula.
So for the next L2s (zkSync, Starknet), everyone started farming with the same style:
- bridge in
- use the chain for months
- make txs
- interact with multiple contracts
- farm volume
- use every popular app
People were even checking their wallets on airdrop tracker/metrics sites to see if they had enough activity.
How many active months?
How many txs?
How many contracts touched?
How much volume?
How much bridge activity?
Then Starknet came and humbled a lot of people because activity alone was not enough.
Some people had transactions, used the chain for months, and probably looked good on those tracker sites.
But they still missed out because they didn’t have at least 0.005 ETH sitting in their wallet at snapshot.
Then ZKsync made it even clearer that teams are no longer just checking whether you used the chain.
They are checking whether your wallet actually looks like a real user:
- Did you bridge?
- Did you use real apps?
- Did you touch DeFi?
- Did you hold value there long enough for it to matter?
- Or did you just come in, tick boxes, and leave?
That’s why I think @base might surprise a lot of people.
Too many people are farming it like the criteria is already known.
Then they check a metrics site and call it positioning.
But every big L2 airdrop has shown us the same thing in different ways:
The next one rarely rewards the exact same behavior everyone is already farming.
