🇹🇷🇮🇷🇷🇺WHY TURKIYE IS NOT BEING TARGETED BY ANYBODY ? Cargo ship Rozana (IMO 9198381) is a ship flying the Belizean flag but owned by a #Turkish company. On March 8, 2026, it crossed the Strait of Hormuz without incident, with #Iran’s approval.⬇️ 1/4 🧵

🇹🇷Turkyie plans to enshrine the Mavi Vatan doctrine in law. This law would allow the #Turkish navy to extend its influence in the eastern Mediterranean and thereby establish a new balance of power. 1/3🧵

Mavi Vatan law will have no international legitimacy but will enable the Turkish navy to strengthen its presence in the disputed areas. 2/3🧵

The implementation of this Mavi Vatan law will only serve to exacerbate tensions. In an already highly tense context, Recep Tayyip #Erdogan clearly has no intention of bringing #peace to the Middle East. 3/3🧵

How convenient. Another pass for Turkey. Turkish bank, Halkbank helps the Iranian regime evade U.S. sanctions, now the Justice Department has asked the judge to drop the criminal case. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

🇹🇷🇺🇸With just a few weeks to go before the #NATO summit in Ankara, the US President is flattering and protecting President #Erdogan. As a result, Erdogan is gradually giving in to their demands. al-monitor.com/originals/202…

Another theater in the Israel-Turkey rivalry to watch is Somalia/Somaliland. For Israel, Somaliland is not just depth for the Houthis/Iran, but also to "contain" Turkish influence in the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea, given Ankara's strong partnership with Somalia. One of many factors in the complex competition in the Horn of Africa/broader Red Sea region.
My latest: Erdogan's speech on Israel was not a threat. It was a calibrated warning, shaped by a regional architecture Ankara can no longer afford to ignore. As Israel's strategy to isolate Turkey quietly unravels, the real story is what comes next. turkiyetoday.com/opinion/a-w…

The cargo ship Rozana continued on its way to the Black Sea, bound for the #Russian port of Novorossiysk in early May and then, likely, Odessa in Ukraine. 3/4 🧵

#Turkiye, a #NATO ally, is compromising itself with rogue states to advance its own interests. How long will Turkiye's duplicity continue ? 4/4 🧵

🇺🇸🇮🇶⚔️🇮🇷 US-led coalition air defenses intercepted at least one drone over Erbil, northern #Iraq, as multiple drone strikes targeted Iranian Kurdish opposition sites. Three drones hit a camp northeast of Erbil belonging to anti-regime groups; separate strikes struck the Freedom Party’s headquarters. Explosions & smoke plumes also reported in nearby Sulaymaniyah The coordinated raids signal a sharp escalation in #Iran’s shadow war against Kurdish dissidents based in Iraqi #Kurdistan, with Western forces now directly drawn into the crossfire

🇹🇷⚔️🇮🇱 The war of words between #Israel & #Turkey is escalating alongside regional tensions. Erdogan accused Netanyahu of "genocide" in Gaza & warned that Israeli actions in Syria, Lebanon & the Eastern Mediterranean threaten Turkey's security Netanyahu responded by calling Erdogan an "anti-Semitic dictator," while Israeli officials issued unusually direct threats. The exchange highlights a deepening Israel-Turkey confrontation as the Middle East faces growing instability

🇹🇷⚔️🇷🇺 Erdogan’s “strategic autonomy” fantasy just died screaming For a decade #Turkey ditched NATO for #Russia: S-400s, Russian gas, Akkuyu nuke, Syria deals. Then inflation, lira crash & an earthquake exposed the truth—Ankara has no friends left except the West it spent years humiliating Now he’s begging for Eurofighters, US LNG & NATO love. Offered the S-400s back to Putin. Crawling home with tail between legs A very good article to read in @ForeignAffairs ⬇️ foreignaffairs.com/turkey/tu…

#Syria: water releases from the #Euphrates Dam ceased today due to the suspension of water inflows from Turkey. The Dam will now maintain a normal discharge rate of ~700 m³/s for electricity generation. Water levels in the Euphrates river are expected to return to normal within 72 hours. The move will bring an end to the largest water release in decades, which caused widespread flooding in areas along the Euphrates in Raqqa & Deir Ezzor countryside.
#Syria: water releases from the #Euphrates Dam were further reduced today following the shutdown of a spillway. The Dam is now releasing 900 m³/s, down from around 1,800 m³/s 10 days ago. This reduction will cause an additional drop in the water level of the Euphrates.
