Find your #MondayMotivation with some exciting news from The Florida Aquarium! Our team released three rescued Kemp's Ridley sea turtles back into the ocean! Staff brought Stevie, Sully and Echo to St. Augustine to round out another successful rescue story. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our team, these turtles received the medical and supportive care needed to make a full recovery from the effects of a cold stun event in Cape Cod, Massachusetts last December. When ocean temps drop rapidly, sea turtles don't have time to relocate, and they become cold-stunned. In 2020, we treated 20 turtles from Cape Cod w/ help from @turtles_fly2. Every winter, we're prepared to rehabilitate local & non-local turtles suffering from cold-stunning.

In 2020, we saved #ColdStunned sea turtles from #CapeCod. With help from @turtles_fly2, we were able to place them in dry tubs, warm them up slowly, and release them back into the ocean. *All Sea Turtle Work performed under appropriate marine turtle fish & wildlife permits.

Feel good Friday! Last week, the animal rescue group @turtles_fly2 flew a 50 lbs Loggerhead turtle that was found cold and immobile to San Diego. He's now in long-term rehabilitation at @sdseaworld. We are happy we were able to assist with his arrival at SAN's @SignatureFBO.
