Good lesson for coaches:
When your best players experience offensive adversity, they don’t need to add another 15 mediorce moves that complicate their decision making tree.
Focus on the STRENGTHS that got them there, hone in on their 0.5 decision making against space, and keep their WEAKNESSES neutral.
‘Steph needed CP3’s mid range game’
‘Giannis needed KD’s handle’
‘KD needed to bulk’
‘Lebron needed to post up’
This is the backwards, causal lens of development.
You need to be elite in 2-3 facets of the game. You don’t need to be mediocre at 10-11.
Victor Wembanyama has a long way to go offensively 🤷🏽♂️ He needs to add all this:
- Low post hooks, banks, push shots
- Develop a knockdown face up jumper
- Add a simple go to move from 8-12 feet
- Get his base and core way stronger
- Back to the basket and triple-threat
