Or solar canals ...
Solar and wind farms can hurt the environment. A new study offers solutions. ⁦@Sammy_Roth⁩ - love #boilingpoint . How about solar highways- Land is disturbed, close to ev charging, near transmission wires, etc… latimes.com/environment/news…

Not "automatically", but SoCal has had slightly more drier than wetter La NiƱa yrs. Still, CPC outlook gives small probability of drier than wetter winter statewide: cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/p…

Does La NiƱa automatically mean another dry winter for California? Not necessarily. See ggweather.com/ca_enso2021/ca… and ggweather.posthaven.com/la-n…

We show annual Sierra Nevada evapotranspiration scaled from flux-tower data to be a central metric of water-balance change & variability, also key to diagnosing uncertainties in catchment precipitation & discharge.

Visited the amazing French Meadow restoration project in @Tahoe_NF being done w/ partners @PlacerWater @PlacerCA, @Conserve_CA, @ARConservancy, @ucmerced, @CA_CECS, @CAsWatershed & more. It takes a partnership to restore a forest!
Notes from the field! Time well spent visiting overstocked forests, restoration thinning, and wildfire aftermath sites in the Sierra Nevada. Thanks to @rbalesuc; @Duchess_Cha and Han Gou. Great outing, can't wait for the next trip!

Solar over canals has many co-benefits. It may not be cheaper than putting solar on sensitive natural lands or productive farmland, but it's better & can provide so much more. abc7news.com/california-wate… via @abc7newsbayarea @TurlockID @SpencerABC7 @SolarAquaGrid

Very exciting project, with multiple benefits for TID, the region & the state!
TID has been selected to pilot first-in-the-nation project involving solar panels over canals, called Project Nexus. Project Nexus could contribute to a more water resilient future for California and position the State to meet its ambitious clean energy goals.

Putting solar on roofs, parking lots, canals, other disturbed land provides multiple benefits. Think natural lands (biodiversity), productive farmland (food). Rooftop solar important for distributed electricity production & resilience, much more. nytimes.com/2022/01/24/busin…
