A friend of mine who I did NYSC with was retained in the place he served. He was earning 120k as of 2009, I can say it's a good job. I stubbornly stayed back in that state after NYSC without a job. So I do see this friend often. Many times I tell him to remember me if any vacancy comes out in his place of work. Some times I had to beg him for money to eat... Atleast I can remember the last one he gave me N800 which I used to buy enough beans to cook and gari. Those days I just roam about the town, visit newspaper stand and read from morning till night.... Go for Immunization Monitoring exercise whenever it comes up... Just anything to give me kobo to eat. One day he told me that there is vacany for one small job, but even graduates do it. I don't mind any amount ọ, as far as it's job, mak I fit see food chop because hunger accompanied by death was staring at me. It happened that the job is to follow bus go hawk phones. The pay is N15000 per month(I had no problem with the amount), but the job is for School levers, even some that dropped out of secondary school. Chai! Me, B.Sc. holder with 2.1 hawking phones... sometimes we drag with each other pursuing moving cars. The first time they gave me the phones, tears wan comot for my eyes... I can't speak Yoruba, how will I be able to sale? First day I couldn't sale anything, and the supervisor will be shouting at me... I thought, how will this my friend introduce me to this kind of job to mix with stark illiterates that will insult me atimes... After few days I decided to go and tell them that I won't be able to that job, but later gave it one more trial. As we went to one market, that day I sold upto 3, sold it more the price the company told us to sale, and made extra N200 gain x3= N600. I was so happy... From there morale come high, sometimes I topped the chart in a group of over 10 sellers. I was saving money on a daily after daily eating... So I didn't touch my salary. After about 3months, another contract job opportunity came for graduates in that same company, they took me, the pay was N150,000. I had to combine it with selling of phones as side hustle which I have learnt earlier... To cut the long story short about 2/3yrs after I built a house and got married even before that my friend. The company folded about 1yr after I joined, and everyone was layed off but I used the experience and training and extablished my phone business... Do not despise the days of little beginning.

There are very few people who aren't into fraud in this country, I was telling someone last week that hardly is there a civil servant who can buy a Toyota muscle let alone a Lexus in 2026 yet, you see people drive exotic cars & you wonder where is the money from.

I have an opinion. It may not be popular, but it's mine. Fraud and prostitution often used to begin at the university level. These days, however, it's starting right from secondary school. Secondary school girls are now saying, "If he's not pressing money, what am I doing with him?" Secondary school boys are saying, "If you're not using the latest Samsung or an iPhone, you're not on my level." Why are secondary school children competing with themselves like this? Many of them are chasing lifestyles they cannot afford, carrying expensive phones while neglecting the things that truly matter, their education, personal development, and future. Big phones. Empty heads. And most of the time, those devices are used for nothing more than chatting and showing off.

It’s a pathetic situation. Contentment is key here, also let’s look at the other side. A family man who is paid 150k a month and you will agree with me some people don’t even earn up to that and also look at the inflation and the cost of things such as gas. D govt caused it!

You forgot the most important question "Why is this happening?" Can you survive on a pay of N150,000 in this current economy without owing? Who are the people that are glorified the most and what do they do? Who do (not should) the young ones look up to?

The government should instead fight themselves and bring sanity to their place. Most things will be positive from there.

Internet fraud strives because legitimate work doesn't pay shit. I go to work everyday day, teach like 6 periods everyday (one period is 40minutes) grade assignments and other tasks, prepare lesson notes during my free time. All these to earn peanuts.

You work in a bank with a pay of N150, 000 but your once classmate visits the bank to make transactions of millions. Each time he comes, he tips you like 10k. He is a Yahoo guy that makes millions in a month, but see you working your a$$ out every month for just 150k. Several thoughts begin to run through your mind... If you want, he's ready to teach you for free. Who no like money? 🤔 Who like suffering? Few months after you resign... Imagine if 2 or 3 people resign from all the branches... Imagine they call for interview for new intakes and none comes... Just imagine... My Bricklayer told me that boys does want to learn the work again, and those who learnt earlier and leaving it for Yahoo. I kept calling him, and he kept telling me he can't work alone, no laborer, na mason man, and when they come, the charge is now double... I have been looking for workers for over 1yr, and have gotten none. The one I'm managing comes anytime he wishes because to him I can't sack him since I'm seriously short staffed. I found a 15yr old boy who is in SS1 and said he wants to be coming after school, but in 6days he stole 6 goods in my shop, all worth N550,000. Internet fraud has done serious harm to our society and to our economy. Imagine you won't see mechanic, plumber, shoemaker, to do your jobs... Just imagine 🤔! Boys don't want to learn work or trade again. Yahoo is a dangerous trend. I never saw the danger before now... Imagine in 10yrs time when the present artisans are off and none to replace them. The government should fight them mercilessly! SAY NO TO INTERNET FRAUD! SAY NO TO ILLEGITIMATE BUSINESSES! SAY NO TO YAHOO!
