Today, on the anniversary of the Normandy Landings, we remember the extraordinary courage, sacrifice and determination of the men who landed on the beaches of Normandy and helped change the course of history.
Many never came home. Many more carried the memories of that day with them for the rest of their lives. Their bravery, alongside the sacrifice of an entire generation, secured the freedoms and way of life that we enjoy today.
As time passes, it becomes even more important that we continue to tell their stories and ensure that their bravery is never forgotten.
I also pay tribute to all those who have served our country since, and to the veterans who continue to make a valuable contribution to our communities across Wales and the United Kingdom.
We owe them a debt that can never truly be repaid, but one that should always be remembered.
Lest We Forget. ๐ฌ๐ง
