Multiple hotspots show periodic variations in their melt production through time. Could this be related to plumes pulsing at depth? Check out our recently published article! w/ Eric Mittelstaedt @UIgeodynamics doi.org/10.1093/gji/ggac455 #ASPECT #GJI

We did it. #Halemaumau #Crater lake at #Kilauea #Volcano summit successfully sampled! #VolcanicGas and water analysis results coming soon! Stay tuned. #yay #usgs #volcanoes #science
Today @USGSVolcanoes took the next step in unlocking the secrets of a lake of water in Halemaʻumaʻu crater. They launched a specialized unmanned aircraft system, UAS, that gathered photographs, gas measurements & a water sample. Once data is analyzed, USGS will announce findings.
