🚨We are increasingly concerned about repeated reports of violent activity by Palestinian armed elements in Gaza that appear to be backed by Israeli forces.
Tuesday morning, 9 June, members of these armed elements established a checkpoint near Wadi Gaza on Salah Al Dein Street in central Gaza and detained several Palestinians, including seven ambulance crew members from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS). Five were released later. The remaining two were taken to an unknown location. As of today, their fate and whereabouts remain unknown according to PRCS.
This is unacceptable, and these healthcare workers must immediately be released.
As an occupying power, Israel has obligations to ensure public order and safety in Gaza, and to refrain from, as well as prevent, such violations of international law, including the obstruction of medical services.
